Hi I'm Melodee!

I'm from Sunrise, Minnesota. I live up to my name by singing 24/7. I'm a missionary serving in Chesapeake Virginia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My life is never complete without a song. Half the time I don't even notice that I serenade everyone, from roommates to cashiers. It's not that I'm super talented or anything, I just enjoy it. Mostly my family and friends just accept it and I keep going. I have a fascination with the Human Body and I currently have a goal of becoming a Physician's Assistant someday! I am enrolled in Brigham Young University and I LOVE it there! I was raised from my youth to love the Cougars and will probably raise my children to do the same. In my life I have had struggles and trials, but I was blessed with a wonderful family that has ALWAYS supported me!

Why I am a Mormon

I remember a time when I strained my voice so bad that I could hardly speak (let alone sing). I was told that I might never be able to really sing again. I became so discouraged about who I was and what I was good for. I couldn't get over how I felt. In my mind, my one talent was being taken away from me and I asked myself several times, why would God let this happen? Didn't He know that I was trying my best to obey the commandments? Wasn't I supposed to be blessed, not torn down? I had worked very hard to develop this talent, and it seemed so unfair that the one thing in the world that let me feel that I was worth something, would be rudely taken away. Through a lot of prayer and consideration, I learned for myself that while God certainly was blessing me in other aspects of my life, He saw this as an opportunity to show me my true worth. God has given many talents to each of His children, but He also needs us to remember that no matter what our lot in life is, our divine heritage is what gives us our worth, an infinite worth. The trials He allows us to go through teach us precious truths about who He is and how we can improve and strengthen ourselves to become more like Him. I am so grateful for the Gospel in my life because it has taught me about my relationship with God. I am a Mormon because I have learned for myself that this is the same church that Christ put on the Earth during his Earthly Ministry. I have learned that because I have asked God and He answered me. I have seen it bless my life and the lives of so many around me.

How I live my faith

Currently I live my faith by telling everyone about it. Right now I am a missionary, which means that I have the opportunity to talk to as many people as possible about the Book of Mormon and the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I do not tell people that their faith is wrong, but my companion and I explain that there is precious truth that everyone needs to know about. We tell them the truths that they don't know yet. The best part is that they don't even need to take my word for it. We tell them that if they read the Book of Mormon (the convincing evidence that our message is true) and pray with the intent to act on whatever answer they will receive, then God will give them an answer! I know this because I have asked God myself and He revealed to me it was true! I recognized the answer by a warm feeling in my heart. I still remember it to this day, though it is a small feeling I have felt time and time again. I live my faith by being true to that witness by striving to live the Commandments everyday and inviting those around me to do the same.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Melodee!
Yes! When Jesus Christ was ministering to those in ancient Jerusalem and Israel, He knew that other people needed to hear his voice as well. (John 10:16) 3 days After His mortal ministry ended with his Crucifixion, He was resurrected and begun ministering again to His apostles. When He had finished, He left that part of the world and went to His "other sheep" so that they could also be witnesses of Him and hear His voice. This event is recorded in the Book of Mormon and tells the account of Jesus Christ ministering to those people that were in the American continent at that time. He performed miracles there as He had done in middle east and ministered to them to give them his Gospel. They needed to know how to live so they could prepare to meet God when they died. Jesus Christ organized the church so the gospel would be continuously taught after he was gone. The prophets recorded the words of Jesus Christ and after many years a prophet named Mormon (whom the book is named after) compiled their writings and buried them to keep them safe. Eventually they would be found and translated into English by a man named Joseph Smith. Later they were published so that the would could know what Christ had said to the Ancient Americans as well as the people in Jerusalem. Show more Show less
