Hi I'm Strom Clark

I grew up in Orem, Utah. Currently I'm serving a mission to Taiwan, Taipei, Mandarin Speaking. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Before I began serving my mission I attended BYU studying Biophysics. I was on the debate team of my highschool for 4 years and for two of those years I served as Lincoln Douglass Debate Captain. I love biology, and during highschool I conducted my own research in a Physiology lab at BYU. I had the opportunity to take my research I conducted at BYU to the International Science and Engineering Fair in 2010. In my free time I build and fix computers, and I am an avid PC gamer. I love playing Magic the Gathering (MTG) and Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) I am a Trekkie by all accounts, and a fan of the entire genre.

Why I am a Mormon

I don't have any one experience that I can point to as a conversion point in my life. I haven't seen any visions; I haven't seen any angels, but I know that my testimony of the divinity of Jesus Christ isn't worth any less than people who have. I know the church is true because when I live its teachings it improves my life. I know from daily confirmations of the truth of this gospel that it's true. John 7:17 says "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." I know if you apply the teachings of Jesus Christ in your life, no matter your trials your life will be improved.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving Jesus Christ as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in the Taiwan, Taipei mission speaking Mandarin Chinese. I decided to serve a mission because I love Jesus Christ, I have felt the reconciling power of his gospel in my life, and I can't imagine what my life would be like without it. My favorite scripture is Alma 29:1-2 "Oh that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart, that I might go forth and speak with the trump of God, with a voice to shake the earth, and cry repentance unto every people! Yea, I would declare unto every soul, as with the voice of thunder, repentance and the pan of redemption, that the shold repent and come unto our God, that there might not be more sorrow upon all the face of the earth."

What is faith?

Strom Clark
Having faith is not like a transaction, where I get what we get what we want or we get special privileges from God because of our faith. Our faith in God needs to not be repentant on the outcomes that we want or that we think we may deserve. Having faith in God is faith that he can deliver us, not that he inevitably will. Faith in God means letting go of what we think is the best outcome for us and accepting that there are things that we may not understand. There may be bad things that happen to us, but no matter what happens to us, our faith needs to be constant in Him and that he has the ability to deliver us, not that he absolutely will. Even when bad things happen and we may not understand it at the time, "All these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for [our] good" (Doctrine and Covenants 122:7) Show more Show less
