Hi I'm Hi, I'm Stephanie.

I'm a retired kindergarten teacher and a grandmother. I like to sing, dance, act, garden, hike, and have other FUN.

About Me

I enjoyed being a kindergarten teacher, especially teaching my students words and motions to patriotic songs and marching with rhythm instruments. I also enjoyed teaching them how read and how to paint at easels and then writing the words they dictated to me so they could read them back. Now my teaching and playing are mostly with my unbelievably CUTE grandchildren and great grandchildren. Something I really love about our religion is that we know the family organization continues after this mortal life. Therefore my sons and daughters and darling grandchildren will have the same relationship to me in heaven. We receive lots of counsel on how to strengthen our families, like by having family home evenings once a week, and by having dates with our spouses at least once a week. Who wouldn't like that?

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 28 years old, I began searching for a religion that fit the Bible better than other religions I had experienced. I looked at other Christian churches, and I even become a Buddhist for a while, but I soon began to miss Jesus. Then one day two white-shirted male missionaries knocked on my door. Noticing their mode of transportation (bicycles) and their clean appearance, I said to myself, "Whatever they are here to tell me, they really believe it." I invited them in. I recognized in their teachings Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, whom I knew from the Bible. I got to keep everything I already knew about Heavenly Father and Jesus, and I learned mountains more. When the missionaries told me how the Book of Mormon came to be, I knew no one, especially a young man, Joseph Smith, with no formal education past eighth grade, could have made up such a marvelous work and a wonder. I was happy when they explained that we have a real modern-day prophet to guide us in these confusing days. Something else I like is that I can enjoy fellowship with other church member who are striving to serve others and live a Christlike life.

How I live my faith

I love The Book of Mormon. Studying it along with the Bible is part of my daily routine. I strive to be patient and kind and helpful and honest in my dealings with others. As part of our faith we fulfill callings we receive from our local leaders. A favorite calling of mine was to be a choir director. Another favorite has been teaching young children and teenagers the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping them understand how gentle, kind, and wise His commandments are. Working with teenagers was especially fun because our Church believes in having lots of good, clean fun. An unforgettable activity I enjoyed with our youth a few years ago was doing a ropes course at a local university. At the end we got to ride a zip line to the ground from a structure the height of a two-story building. AWESOME! Also fun have been singing, dancing, and acting in theatrical productions put on by the church.
