Hi I'm Charlene

I live in Canada. I'm a missionary in the Missouri Independence Mission. I love my family and I love serving the Lord.

About Me

Like many young people I'm still trying to figure out where exactly I want to go with my education. I have put my studies on hold in order to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for a period of 18 months in Independence, Missouri. I love sports and am very competitive. Camping, hiking, and swimming are my favorite summer activities, but I also like to just sit around and relax with friends. The greatest blessing in my life is my family and the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a mormon? Because I know in my heart and mind that this is where I need to be. When I was 19 I decided that I really needed to know if this church was really Christ's church restored to the earth. I decided to read the Book of Mormon and and pray about it. I knew that if I came to know the Book of Mormon was true than this church had to be true as well. No, there was no voice from heaven, nor did I have a miraculous vision, but I can tell you that the peace and reassurance that I felt in my mind and in my heart testified to me that this church and book is true. Over the years as I have continued to learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and have tried my best to live it, I have felt a greater sense of peace and joy in my life. Its something that can't be fully explained, but has to be felt to truly understand. Through my faith I have gained a greater understanding of What Christ truly means to me and how He helps me everyday. I have come to realize that God has a plan for each of us. Through this church I know that I can live with my family again. I know my Father in Heaven loves me and all of his children and only wants the best for us. I have seen miracles come into my life and into my family's life because of our membership in this church and because of the promises we have made to God and our efforts to keep our end of those promises. I know that this church is something that will bless your life in so many ways. Through learning about the church and praying to know if it is true you can receive the same witness that I have received. So pick up the Book of Mormon, read it and pray sincerely to know if its true, and you will receive an answer :)

How I live my faith

Living my faith comes with every day decisions. I believe that in every situation I have the decision to either truly live what I believe or not. I try my best to act and make choices with Christ in mind; always looking to Him as the ultimate example of love and service. I know that through the good choices I make I feel greater peace and a sense of the Love my Father in Heaven has for me. I see everyday decisions as a way to show God if we truly love him as well. I try to live my faith through my daily actions and no, I'm not perfect, but I know that through Christ I can improve each day and become better.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Charlene
We believe the bible to be the word of God. We use it in conjunction with the book of Mormon because they support the doctrine in one another and clarify some doctrine that by itself would seem less clear. Show more Show less
