Hi I'm Jake

"I was born in California, I love philosophy, architecture, literature, and rowing, and I'm a Mormon"

About Me

I am a full time missionary serving in the Tempe Arizona mission for two years. I graduated High school in the class of 2013 and Have been involved in scouts and Competitive Rowing. I love philosophy, literature, and self improvement. I treasure my beliefs, but I'm always reevaluating myself and my values in an ongoing search for truth.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon because it has brought me more peace and happiness throughout my life than anything else. The standards and values I've learned from living the gospel have opened up so many amazing opportunities in my life, one of those opportunities being my Full time mission. I'm a member of this church because I sincerely believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the same restored organization founded by Jesus Christ millennia ago. That belief stems from the many spiritual confirmations I've received after asking God if this is truly his church, and He has given me undeniable answers each time through the feelings that came to my heart and mind. In addition to that, the Gospel just makes sense! There needed to be a restoration of lost truths, there needed to be another witness (The Book of Mormon) so that we could search and know for ourselves. There needs to be modern prophets who receive guidance and direction from Christ for His Church, just as there were in biblical times. Throughout my lifetime of belonging to this faith, religion, church, whatever you prefer to call it, I have grown to know my Savior and my Father in heaven closely. He teaches and helps me through challenges so that I can one day be able to return and live with Him again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by not only serving the Lord in inviting his children to come closer to him, and receive the joy the restored gospel can bring to their lives, but also by utilizing the atonement in my own life. I'm so grateful for the opportunity we have to repent and change, and I wholeheartedly beleive that through Jesus Christ, I can change my nature and desires, to have "no more disposition to be evil, but to do good continually" (Mosiah 5:2). In every way I try to emulate Christ, and to bring my will into better alignment with my Heavenly Father's will. I'm not perfect, and I don't claim to be. But because of the Atonement I have seen my weaknesses be made strong as I rely on my savior
