Hi I'm Collin Cook

I'm from Southern California. I love the beach, especially surfing. I love my family, friends, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Southern California. I am the second oldest of seven children. I have an older sister, a younger sister, and four younger brothers. Since I grew up in such a beautiful place, I took advantage of it. Some of my greatest experiences and most fun times in my life has been family recreational activities. During my middle school years I got into skateboarding and bmx. I was also a part of a running club through the school I attended. At age twelve and thirteen I trained all year so I could run the Los Angeles marathon. When I got to high school I played football my freshman year, I decided not to play anymore because of how time consuming it was. During spring of freshman year a lot of my friends tried out for the volleyball team, I wasn't planning on playing, but I tried out. It turned out that I was made setter and team captain of the fresh/soph team so I decided to play. I played all four years. My sophomore and junior year I also ran cross country. In high school I really got into surfing. So I surfed as much as possible. I surfed in the early mornings, after school, in the evenings, and a couple times in the middle of the night until early the next morning. Surfing just sets me free and it feels like I am in a different dimension, and that I am one with the ocean when I get on a surfboard. I came out on my mission at age eighteen, and I am currently serving in the Oregon, Eugene Mission from September 2013-2015.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this is the only true church on this earth! The joy and happiness being a member of this church is not comparable to any worldly joy and happiness! As I continue living in righteousness, I know I can live with my Father in Heaven, and my family for Eternity!

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my entire life. My family and I grew up going to church every week, and participating in the different activities. My parents made sure us as children completed our different priesthood and auxiliary responsibilities. I grew up going to mutual every week, going on camp outs when I was in scouts, and always wanting to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I didn't realize until I was in High School that I was living off my family's and friends testimonies. I was a good kid in school, but maybe not the nicest to people, and I knew I needed to shape up. I was into girls, the beach, sports, and the different things teenagers were into. Nothing too crazy though. So I decided the first day of summer leading into my senior year to read the Book of Mormon all the way through, cover to cover. So I promised myself that I would read at least a couple verses a day, which quickly led to a couple chapters a day. Reading the Book of Mormon and praying night and day led me to the person I am today. I started realizing the most important things in life, family, friends, school, etc. I am now serving a mission which shows the importance of prayer and scripture reading.
