Hi I'm Sam

I'm a musician, I'm a missionary, I love academics, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a musician, an aspiring mathematician, and a perfectionist at just about everything I do. I love being a missionary in the North Carolina Charlotte Mission, and I've been serving full-time ever since August 2013. My primary music talents are the trumpet, piano, and singing, and I have a gift to play almost anything I hear by ear on any instrument I'm familiar with. What makes me the happiest, though, is enjoying good friends and learning more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ through scripture study and other materials.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in a highly LDS home my entire life, and for that I'm very grateful. I have not, however, been "converted" ever since I was a child. The point in my life where I really accepted the gospel was when I was 14 years old. I heard a lesson about Jesus Christ and about how He has suffered for my sins so I could come back to him, and I realized that I was supposed to apply what is called the Atonement in my own life. I repented of several things, and began living the gospel more faithfully. I have received a further witness of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and of Joseph Smith's First Vision by praying sincerely and asking God whether or not it was true, as written in Moroni 10:4-5 and in Matthew 7:7-8

How I live my faith

I've been growing in my faith ever since my early teens, and the way I best live my faith is by improving myself to become more like Jesus Christ every day. I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to become more like Christ, rather than being expected to be absolutely perfect overnight. I constantly strive to be better, and I share my conviction and beliefs that Jesus Christ is the Savior and that His truth is restored on the earth with as many people as I'm able.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

All men and women in this world can benefit from hearing our message, and I understand how much of a blessing the Church's teachings have been in my own life, and that's why I share it with others. People often ask me why Mormons proselyte to believing Christians as well as others, and I say it's because we have more! Our message will only add to and enhance an already believing Christian's testimony - we don't desire to draw anyone away from the truths they have, but we only wish for them to "lay hold upon every good thing, and condemn it not" (Moroni 7:19). I know that the Savior's power is real, and I also know that additional and valuable understanding of Him can and will come as they accept the Restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It will benefit all who act on it. Show more Show less
