Hi I'm Bethany

I'm a recent high school graduate with a brother, sister, and a dog. I love to sing, dance, and do makeup. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Now that I've graduated high school I'm starting a new chapter of my life. I will be attending a four year university in the fall at which I hope to study musical therapy, or something of that nature. I love music in all its forms- hip hop, pop, country, classical. You name it! I enjoy the outdoors and traveling. My favorite place I've been so far is Garden of the Gods in Colorado. I love animals too. I'm a vegetarian. I hope to someday be a wife and raise a family with my Prince Charming.

Why I am a Mormon

The first time I heard the plan of salvation I knew it was true. Even though I knew it was true I wasn't ready to accept it. I lacked the maturity to commit my heart to it. I decided to do things my own way for a while which brought a lot of pain in my life, mainly depression. One day I woke up and decided I had enough. That was when I started going back to church. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me overcome so many difficulties. Dealing with major depression has been a really big challenge in my life. It's made a lot of things difficult. It helps to know that I am never really alone, I have the Holy Ghost. It has really helped me to have the Spirit with me on the days where all I have is to get out of bed. It is comforting to know that my depression is a temporal trial. The Gospel of John in the New Testament has brought me so much strength and comfort because it reminds me of my Savior's love for me. I am a Mormon because when I participate in church activities I feel good inside. When I listen to prophets and apostles speak I feel it. I am overwhelmed with conviction. When I think about Christ, when I read about Him in the scriptures, when I hear my church family talk about Him, I know without a shadow of a doubt He is real. He lives. He loves me. The peace I find when being a part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is different than anything I've ever felt. No part of me ever feels like there's a piece missing. It is the whole truth.

How I live my faith

My favorite verse in all scripture is John 13:34: "As I have loved you, love one another." This is exactly how I live my faith. I do my best to notice the needs of others and help fulfill them. Sometimes this is as simple as bringing a plate of cookies. Others it means a long conversation. Often it means connecting them with others who are experiencing similar challenges, giving them encouragement on a daily basis or a number of other things. Service is the ultimate way I express my faith. I love Christ my Savior so much that is hard for me to not share that love with others around me who are in need of help and love themselves.

What is being a Mormon like?

I remember the feeling of magic I had when I watched princess movies as a child. I looked at them enchanted, wondering how they could ever need anything else. The Gospel of Jesus Christ makes me feel the way I imagined those princess felt. Its a joy and peace and enchantment I cannot describe. When I feel sad or jealous or worried I think of my Savior and I slip back into His peace. He is my best friend. He is real, His sacrifice is real, and His love changes lives. Life isn't easier, sometimes its actually harder. But at the end of the day I feel peace. I know that everything will be okay. There is no issue that will never end. I know that I can do all things. Sure, it takes a lot of time, but I enjoy spending that time doing Christ centered activities. Church on Sunday is uplifting, as is Seminary. On top of that I spend all that time with friends who make me happy, build me up, and encourage me. It's fun. We party a lot. Dances every month, camp, ward parties. It's the best! We're a wholesome, fun community. You can count on every activity to be safe, fun, and wholesome. Life is wonderful. That's the best word for it. Show more Show less
