Hi I'm Erika Baker

Wanderlust is the name of the game. Anything gold and shiny is my favorite. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as the oldest child in a family of 5. I am the daughter of a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army. I have lived in Japan, Canada, Arizona, Germany, and Michigan. I graduated from a private university in Michigan with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Bioengineering Specialty and I work full time. After studying abroad in Germany twice, I love to travel and explore. Europe is my second home! I love to cook, bake, talk, laugh, and laugh some more. I am currently preparing to serve a full-time mission in the Nevada Las Vegas Mission. I report to the MTC in December of 2013. I look forward to serving the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the church. Once I left home I decided that I didn't want to attend anymore. After several years of going through the pains and struggles of school I decided that the current version of myself was not who I wanted to be anymore. Once I started to attend church on a regular basis and doing the things I had always been counseled to do, I started to find that peace in my life that I had been missing. In 2012 I lost my mom to her battle to cancer. I know that Heavenly Father was calling her home to commit her time and talents to a greater work in the next life. There are times when my heart is full of sorrow for the absense of her in my life, but I know that the peace I feel is because of the Gospel. Eternal families are possible and I know that one day I will see her again. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. Joseph Smith restored the one true church to the Earth and I testify of that. Modern day prophets administer to the inhabitants of the world and their counsel is the true word of God.

How I live my faith

I attend a local young single adult branch where I volunteer my time and talents to teaching and organizing the sisters that are from the ages of 18 to 31. I spend time reaching out to those sisters who may be struggling with things going on in their life. From the Savior's example, I do my best to be their friend and a source of comfort.
