Hi I'm Matt

I love playing tennis and running. I am a junior at the University of Utah. I play the piano. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the middle child of three. I have two awesom brothers. My favorite sport is tennis, I've played since I was 5 years old. I also love playing the piano, I've played it for a really long time, but I'm not amazing, I just think it is fun. I am currently a student at the U of U studying Biochemistry. It's really challenging, but that's what makes it fun. After I graduate I hope to go to medical school and become a doctor. I spent some time volunteering at the Children's Hospital, which was one of the best experiences I've ever had. It was just a great environment and so much fun helping out the kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. Both of my parents are members so church has just always been a part of my life. I've known the scriptures from the time I was 6. As I got a little older I started to dislike coming to church and only come because I was forced. But now I'm grateful that I was. It kept me close to a lot of people who had really strong testimonies of the church which really helped me to gain my own. I was lucky enough to have awesome friends that I could talk about the gospel with. I began reading the scriptures a lot more and praying. The more I learned the more I could see the influence of God in my daily life from the time I was young. It made me realize that I am a child of God, and that He really does know me and care about me. It was just really comforting to know that I was constantly being looked out for. I continued to go church and to read my scriptures and I now I just know that this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by applying the principles I learn in church into my daily life. I continually try to be a better person by looking out for opportunities where I can help someone else. I pray and read scriptures every day, and that helps keep me in the right frame of mind throughout the day. I also use my piano talents to play in church meetings. I think that having the opportunity to play in these meetings has helped me more than I ever thought it would. It makes me practice hymns throughout the week which allows me to listen to uplifting music all the time. I will be leaving soon to serve a mission in Seoul Korea, and I could not be more excited.
