Hi I'm Joyce Elaine Watson

I was born and raised in Long Beach, California during the roaring 20's. I lived in Oregon for 63 years. I am a widow of 12 years.

About Me

I am an 87 year old member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was born in Long Beach, California, & moved to Oregon, in 1945. I found the church when I was 25 years old, in Portland, Oregon. It saved my life. I am a widow, a mom, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother, & a great grandmother. I now live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am enjoying life, my families, friends the Gospel of Jesus Christ, & family history, etc. I love to read, especially American history. I have read all 9 of David McCullough's books. I also love a good mystery.

Why I am a Mormon

When the missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, first taught me about Joseph Smith's "first vision" that he saw God & Jesus Christ, & that they are two separate personages, not one great mass that fills the universe but can dwell in our hearts like I had been taught, I knew what they were teaching me was true. That "Priesthood Authority" comes from God (Heavenly Father) & his son Jesus Christ, that His Atonement makes it possible for us to gain eternal life if we repent of our sins & keep His commandments. And that there is a living Prophet on the earth, & that families can be sealed together for eternity, in the holy Temples. And that the Book of Mormon, is a 2nd witness of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have been a temple ordinance worker for nearly 26 years. I am an avid family historian, & have kept many volumes of family history on my lines, & my husbands lines. I am actively working in Family Tree, a church web site, uploading documents, photos, & stories & I also do indexing, currently working on death certificate records. I am enjoying life, my families, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, friends, & family history, etc.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Joyce Elaine Watson
When I was baptized, I received the gift of The Holy ghost, who is the 3rd member of the God Head. If I continue to live worthily each day, He is my constant companion. He is my comforter, my protector, my revelator. He helps me make decisions, & helps me solve daily problems. Example: He enlightens my mind so that I receive answers to a simple prayer. For example: yesterday I had to print a letter to deliver to a friends birthday celebration & I had a paper jam. I did everything I could to fix the printer jam, & prayed for help, & within minutes my answer came & I knew what to do so I was able to print the letter & deliver it to my friend. That example may seem a simple but I have had many similar experiences that prove to me the power of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
