Hi I'm Charles

I'm from Nova Scotia. I'm an Acadia University alumni. I am an express courier company manager. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work for a large and well known courier company. I am a family man. I am married to a wonderful woman and have three great kids. They are the main source of strength in my life. We love to travel together, but if you ask them they get a little nervous when Dad says "we're going to have an adventure!" I enjoy gardening, be it vegetables or flowers. I just love seeing things grow and enjoy the "fruits"of my labours. I am fluent in Spanish, having lived in South America for two years, serving a mission for the Church. This impacted my life greatly and led me to complete my university education with a degree in linguistics. I learned to play the piano at a young age and I play the clarinet. Music is a source of inspiration and motivation and the love of good music is something I share with my wife and family. You can often hear music in our home and see us dancing together, though my moves are a source of entertainment for my kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I like the basics. Just like with gardening in planting a seed and helping it grow, I try to help others see their worth and reach their potential. We are all brothers and sisters and we should find joy in the success of others. Everything we do in life is with the intention to find happiness. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ and being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints brings me joy. It is that simple.

How I live my faith

When I was very young my parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They taught me the virtues of living a Christlike life and those teachings have stayed with me. From their example I learned the value of service and kindness to others. These are things that I continue to keep in my life. I have had the responsibility to teach the scriptures and gospel principles to university aged young adults. This has helped me remember how important the basics are. To me, it is really important to remember that in this world we can either lift people up or bring people down by our attitudes and actions. I keep a smile on my face because I know that we can all be happy if we choose to be, regardless of our life situations. People have often commented on the fact that I always seem to be happy. This happiness comes from the knowledge I have that Jesus Christ made it possible for me to live with Heavenly Father again. As I strive to improve myself, I find peace in righteous living. This peace provides stability in my life and strength to meet each new day with optimism. I enjoy trying to bring this same optimism to my co-workers and other people I interact with, either at work or recreational activities.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Charles
Just as Christ taught his disciples, the missionaries go out to all the world to find those who are seeking for truth. It is also important for people to have the missionaries as a resource for answering questions. If we ever want to know something we try to go to the source or to someone who has the experience. For example, if you have a question about an illness, you go to a doctor. If you need to build a bookshelf, you ask a carpenter for pointers. If you seek to know something about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, then the missionaries, as well as members of the Church, have answers that will not lead you astray.
