Hi I'm Kiley

I am a sister. I am a daughter. I am a friend. I love laughing and chocolate. I am a future missionary. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from high school in 2012. I attended college for a semester, before they announced the age change for missionaries. I immediately submitted my papers and am leaving for LIMA, PERU!!! When I return from my mission I plan on majoring in mathematics and hope to be a high school math teacher. I am the oldest - and shortest! - of three siblings. My brother and sister are my best friends, and my mom and dad are the greatest people I know. I love spending time with my family and friends. When I have a spare moment - and sometimes when I don't - I love to read. You name a book, and odds are I've read it. Harry Potter has gotten me through many a bad day, and plenty of good ones too. I like singing and dancing and swimming and running and watching movies and eating chocolate chip cookies and campfires and smores. Basically, my life is FANTASTIC. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the happiness it brings me, and the happiness I know it will bring in the future. I know and can testify without a doubt that all of my greatest joys in this life are those I owe to my Savior, Jesus Christ. I shudder to think of what dark and miserable place I would be in if it weren't for Christ and His gospel. It is hard sometimes, to live the way He wants me to, and often I fall short. However, His Atonement allows me to stand and try again, and again, and again, and eventually I will return to live with Him and all my loved ones in the paradise He has prepared for me. There I will live for eternity, in "a state of never-ending happiness," surrounded by my family. This promise of constant joy and the knowledge that Christ always fulfills His promises is enough to keep me going, despite everything life throws at me. I know who He is and I know what He's done, and above all, I know that He loves me more than words can say. And because of that, I will follow Him. Always.

How I live my faith

I teach the 4 year old children in my ward. They are so cute!! I love holding their hands and laughing at their silly jokes. I love seeing their faces light up when they sing about Jesus. They brighten my day and remind me to enjoy the simplicity of life. Also, as mentioned above, I am preparing to leave on a mission for a year and a half. I can't WAIT to go serve the people of Peru and share my happiness with them. One of my passions is creating ways to make it easier for myself and others to live the standards of the gospel. For example, I organized an alternate prom my senior year of high school. Disgusted by the immorality that thrives at high school dances, I started a petition to enforce cleaner standards. When that didn't work, I organized another prom, one that was open to anyone as long as they were willing to abide by higher standards of dress and behavior. It was definitely worth all the effort. That night was one I'll never forget. The dance was successful in every way possible - clean, fun, comfortable - and everyone was glowing with the happiness of doing something fun and enjoyable in the Lord's way.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

The best way to increase faith in Christ is to DO!! As you keep His commandments, follow His example, and try to become the person He would have you be, you will receive confirmation that the things you are doing are right and true. The more you follow Him, the more confirmation you receive. Faith always follows confirmation, and faith leads to more action, which leads to MORE confirmation and faith! It's just one joyous cycle :) Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is awesome. It's hard sometimes, because we are so different from the world. But the positives that come from living my faith far outweigh the negative. Being Mormon brings greater joy than anything the world has to offer. Because I'm a Mormon, I know that I am loved. I know that I will be with my family forever. I know where I belong. I know how to work hard. I know how to have fun. I know who I am. Show more Show less
