Hi I'm Erik

I'm a Utah State Aggie! My favorite thing to do is jam out on my guitar and write my own music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

So, just finished my Freshman year at Utah State University. I cannot tell you how much I love USU! So much fun, and such an amazing experience. I can't wait to go back! I love meeting new people and making new friends. Utah State was the perfect place to do that. I can guarantee that you'll find me jamming out on my guitar at least an hour a day. It's my favorite thing to do. I love writing my own songs and music. I was lucky enough to go and record my music, and make my own little demo C-D and give it to all my friends and family. When I'm writing music and singing, I'm in my own little world; it's my favorite place to be. I love running! There's just something about it that makes you feel great. Blasting music in my ears, feeling the beat with every stride, that's my kind of high. I love going trail running up to the waterfalls in the mountains, and running out by the salt lake in the wetlands. My favorite run though, is when I go night running to the Logan temple. Chasing after the Temple's beautiful glow at night is the best, and there is such a feeling of peace when you reach your destination.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but I was never one to just do something because my family did it. I wanted to know for myself if the church I was attending every Sunday was true. One night I picked up The Book of Mormon and decided, "I'm actually going to read this", and I did. When I started to read, something happened. I felt something that I really had never felt before. What I felt that day, I now know to be the Spirit. The Spirit for me is a quiet, but strong, warm feeling that I get when I read the Book of Mormon, when I hear a testimony of another member, or when I say my prayers at night. When I felt this spirit, there was know denying the answers to my questions that came when I read The Book of Mormon. I cannot deny that we have a loving Heavenly Father who loves all of his children on earth, I cannot deny that the Church of Jesus Christ was restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith, I cannot deny that we have a living prophet today and his name is Thomas S. Monson. I cannot deny any of these things because I've prayed about each of them, felt the spirit, and know of the truth of this church. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true, and only true church on earth, I feel the love of Heavenly Father every day, and I am so thankful for this. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I've lived my faith through service. What's great about my community and ward is that we all have that same wonderful attitude when it comes to helping others. If someone needs help moving, I'll be there. If someone needs help with their yard, if they're sick, or if their having a hard time you can always count on the people in the ward to help them out. I am proud to call my self a Mormon, who lives his faith through service to others, and is willing to always help out no matter what. I'm living my faith right now by preparing to go on a 2 year full time LDS mission serving in Quetzaltenango Guatemala. On my mission I'll be teaching others about my faith, and let them know what I believe and know to be truth. I can't wait to be a missionary! I leave super soon, and am excited to interact with the people of Guatemala. My Spanish isn't very good right now, haha, but I'll be practicing a lot so I can say more than "hola como estas".
