Hi I'm Richard Chumbley

I have traveled and experienced many cultures. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

About Me

I am retired military and Federal Civil Service. We, my wife and I, have experienced many cultures and enjoyed the company of Saints throughout our world travels. I enjoy many hobbies and have many projects (honey-does) lined up, one being modernizing our 1920s bungalow in the country; our retirement home. I have enjoyed many callings in the Church and have enjoyed each one; working with the youth, missionary work and doing family history being some of my favorites.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church. I did not fully understand baptism when I was baptized at the age of eight (8). I gained my testimony of these Gospel truths little by little, precept by precept, here a little, there a little. My testimony continues to grow and strengthen. The saying goes "...by their fruit ye shall know them..." As I listen, ponder, and pray about the truths that are taught I have found they work. Keeping the Word of Wisdom provides strength; you shall walk uprightly, run and not be weary, your mind is clear and you comprehend things better. Living the "basics" the Ten (10) Commandments, the Law of Tithing, the Law of Chastity provides spiritual and physical happiness and joy not necessarily known to those I have come in contact with. The Lord's Gospel is an "active" Gospel; it does not ask that you accept it's teachings at face value; it asks that you use your "agency" to verify the instruction / message given. Then, if you seek with pure intent, expecting to receive an answer to your inquiry/prayer to your Father-in-Heaven, as outlined in the Bible, the Book of James 1:5, you will receive an answer and you will know the truth. Try it, it has not failed me at any time.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ taught his disciples to live even as He did. We are to be perfect even as our Father-in-Heaven is perfect. I try to live my faith through example. When I was in the military and employed with the Federal government I always stated: My mode of operation is the same, whether I am at work, at home or at Church. I find by consistently following the teachings of the Gospel, the commandments of our Father-in-Heaven, we have peace and it is an anchor to hold on to in these tulmultuous times. The Lord has said if ye love me keep my commandments. I try to not deviate from that.
