Hi I'm Stephanie Stoliker

I grew up in Utah and go to UVU. I'm an Honors student studying English and I want to be an editor. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hi there! My name is Stephanie. I'm a university student and I love school so much! I'm majoring in English and I want to be an editor for a publishing company. I think I would love getting to work with authors to help them change the world just a little bit by sharing their ideas through writing. I love to read, write, and I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I'm the oldest of four siblings--I have a little sisters and two younger brothers. They're all crazy, but lots of fun! I've decided to go on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! This means that for 18 months I will serve God and His son, Jesus Christ, by teaching my fellow spirit siblings about how to be happy! I'm so excited for the chance to help people and change their lives for the better.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormon. I've gone to church my whole life. I've heard people say that that must be why I'm a Mormon, but that isn't correct. Being a Mormon is my choice, I've made it myself based on my own knowledge and understanding, and I know this is the right decision because God has shown me that it is. Most of the decisions we make in life are based on trial and error. The decision to follow God doesn't have to be, even though the same principles work. It is possible to try not living the commandments, the guides that God has given us to help us be happy, and see how you feel. Darkness, loneliness, and feeling lost are what comes when we don't follow God. Then, it is possible to contrast that with living the commandments. Light, warmth, direction, and comfort all come from God and doing what he has told us to. He made us! He knows we can attain lasting happiness. But even better than trial and error is asking God yourself what you should do. He loves us and will answer us when we ask him what is right. This is the way to avoid the pain that not keeping the commandments brings. Jesus Christ is God's son, and he came to earth in order to give us a perfect example to follow and use as a guide and then he died for us, making a sacrifice that satisfied our debts to justice, allowing Christ to show us mercy. We all make mistakes but when we repent and sincerely try to change ourselves, Christ has made it possible through the Atonement to become clean again. I know God lives. He loves me as my perfect father. I know Christ is His son and that he died for me so that I can live forever with God. I know that God has called a prophet, President Thomas S Monson, who leads the Church under the direction of God. I know Joseph Smith was called by God, translated the Book of Mormon, and had the Priesthood, the power and authority to act in God's name, restored to him. I know the Book of Mormon was written by ancient prophets and that it is the word of God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church every week. There I have the unique opportunity to make a covenant, a promise between myself and God, called the Sacrament. I promise to always remember Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for me and to keep the commandments that God has given us. In return I will be blessed by receiving comfort, guidance, and protection. I also pray to God everyday, both my myself and with my family, thanking him for how blessed I am and asking for help and blessing for myself and others. I study both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, reading sections at a time, writing down thoughts and impressions that come to me, and praying for understanding. I always dress modestly, showing respect for myself and for my Heavenly Father. He gave us our bodies, a wonderful blessing, and He has given us directions on how we should treat it. I always try to do my best to keep the other commandments, or instructions, He has given us and I keep trying even when I make mistakes. He does this because He loves me! I try every day to ask myself what Christ would do in my situation and then do my best to follow His example.
