Hi I'm James

I'm a missionary, a theatrical technician, and friend, a musician, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am currently serving a LDS full time mission. I love doing theater! I started doing Lighting Design in high school, and loved it from the start! I enjoy spending time with friends, playing and writing songs for piano, and listen to music.

Why I am a Mormon

In today's world, there is chaos everywhere. In the Gospel, I can find peace and reassurace that everything will turn out right, even in the worst of situation. It gives me a hope, and something to look for when I feel lost. It's my light, my guide, my Liahona. Through the doctrine of Christ, and through the wisperings of the Spirit, I can feel true joy in my life, and know that I have a purpose, and I am a Child of God!

How I live my faith

Before my mission, I had a friend that would always text me a scripture, at least one every 2 days, and always tell me to have the Spirit, and to smile! Throughout my mission, I've tried to email my friends and family one scripture a week that I found. I know that through the scriptures, we can find peace, and strength to keep moving forward, especially when we feel we can't go any further. I also love to write poems about doctrinal topics, and I love sharing them with my friends and family.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

James
God is the Author. He appointed prophets to write down experiences, testimonies, and lessons on plates, so they could be preserved and given to our generation. The prophets have told us that the Book of Mormon was written for our day, and it provides us with valuable guidance and revelation, if we sincerely read and study it. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

James
It is strongly recommended for all young men between the ages of 19-25 to serve a full-time, 2 year, mission. For sisters, it is optional, but I know from talking with other sisters that it is a amazing oppritunity, and they love it! Senior couples, who are retired, are encouraged to serve a service or proselyting mission. Serving a mission is a great oppritunity to give your life to the Lord for 18 to 24 months, and bring 'lost sheep' unto the Shephard, Jesus Christ. It is also an opptritunity for personal growth, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and other ways! Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

James
The best way we can come to know our Father in Heaven is through sincere prayer, at least twice a day, and keeping a prayer in our hearts throughout our entire day. When we ask for things, he will give them to us. Once he has blessed us, we should always remember to thank him for all the blessings he has bestowed upon us. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

James
When Christ came to the Earth, he established His Church, and called Apostles to help him carry out the work. After his crucifixion, and ascent into Heaven, his Apostle were left to continue, and preach. But, people began to reject them, and one by one, they were stoned, killed, murdered by those who rejected them. Once the apostles were killed, the Priesthood (God's authority on Earth to preach in His Name) was lost, because it was not passed on to other Apostles. The Bible was then changed...doctrine was removed, and human wisdom was put in it's place. (Not that men aren't wise, just God is wiser!) Many of simple truths that were in the Bible were lost... A Restoration was needed, to restore God's authority here on the Earth, and to translate the Book of Mormon, a record of the people in Ancient Americas. Through Joseph Smith, Jesus Christ re-establish his church. This IS the only true church here on the Earth, and I know that anyone who wants to know if it is true can know, through sincere prayer, and reading the scriptures. Show more Show less
