Hi I'm Brayden Humpherys

I've lived in Idaho, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and now I am serving as a Missionary for the Church in Jamaica.

About Me

I'm an Eagle Scout, I've spent two years at a community college, and I am serving a two year mission in Jamaica. I really enjoy mountain biking, down hill and cross country skiing, fishing, and camping.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are members, and I grew up in the faith, but the cool thing about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is that it doesn't just expect you to "just believe", on the contrary, it encourages its members to read the Book of Mormon, and pray to know if it, and the church, is true. Joseph Smith did this same thing after he read James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him". Joseph followed this model and was given an answer (the full story can be found in the beginning of the Joseph Smith History, if you have any questions, the missionaries are always ready to help you learn more). I too have followed this scripture, and Joseph Smiths example, and asked to know if the Book of Mormon is true, and the Church is true; as a result, I got an answer. It wasn't a glamorous as was Joseph Smith's, but I still felt a calm, reassuring feeling that it was true. I have done this many times, and as a result I can't name one specific moment when I knew that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the correct church, but this continued reassurance has lead me to believe, and know that it is the correct church.

How I live my faith

Right now I am a Missionary for the church, what that means is that I am volunteering 2 years of my life to give to the Lord to help bring his children closer to him. This means is that I wear dress slacks, white shirt, and a name tag, and go around and talk to as many people about the Restored Gospel as I can. As I have seen the Gospel impact my life I want to share that message with everyone. One of the best parts about what I do is that I get to see people change as they utilize the Atonement (Christ's suffering in Gethsemane, death on the cross, and Resurrection) in their lives. I love seeing someone who has various problems, and then help them solve them as they start doing the simple things like reading their scriptures, praying, and coming to church.
