Hi I'm Robert

I am a son, a husband, a father of six, a grandfather of two, and a Mormon.

About Me

I am 45 years old and I've been married for 18 years. My wife and I have six kids. Our eldest has two of her own and our youngest will start school in the fall. I used to be a sports fan but since the Expos left Montreal and the Rough Riders left Ottawa (twice) I am now just a hockey fan. Go Sens Go.

Why I am a Mormon

I met with Mormon Missionaries when I was 20 years old. I enjoyed the discusiions we had but was not serious about progressing any further until we began talking about how Jesus had sacrificed both body and life for me. That night I couldn't stop thinking about what we had done for me and in comparison I had done nothing in my life for him. When that realization hit me I had a powerfull warm feeling inside that brought tears to my eyes. It was the Spirit testifying to me that the things the missionaries were teaching me were true and that I needed to do more with my life; starting with getting baptized and joining the church. That was 25 years ago. Life didn't necessarily get any easier, but my ability to cope and the understanding of why things happen and how to deal with them (pray, pray, pray, and serve others!) has been priceless. Life is truly happier.

How I live my faith

I teach the 14 and 15 year old young men at church (they teach me lots too). On Tuesday's we have our Young Men's activities where we play sports, perform service for those in the community, learn life skills, and generally hang out and have fun together.
