Hi I'm Tessie

I'm 20 years old and I'm a student attending BYU Provo studying Dietetics. I grew up in Salt Lake and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student studying dietetics and contrary to popular belief, I absolutely love food! I love what I study and I love what I do. I mean, what other profession lets you eat delicious food and still encourage a healthy lifestyle? Someday I hope to become a registered dietician and help others live a higher quality of life and help them be happy with who they are and how they look. I love hiking, swimming, camping, sports, and just being outside. I'm not afraid to try new things, in fact, that's what brings me joy. I love being adventurous and experiencing things I've never done before. I've lived in the same house with the same neighbors, with the same people, in the same schools my entire life, and I never went outside of my box. I had always dreamed of traveling and seeing the world, but it wasn't until I was in high school that I made my dream a reality. I had an amazing opportunity to travel through Europe, I lived in Hawaii and went to school and experienced new cultures, and now I'm going on a mission to Seoul, Korea to serve the Lord's children and learn about a country who's people and culture could not seem more foreign to me. But I am ready and excited to take on this new adventure!

Why I am a Mormon

My friends are Mormon, my siblings are all Mormon, my parents are Mormon, and my grandparents are Mormon but this is not the reason why I'm a Mormon. I'm a Mormon because I was tired of relying on other people's testimonies and I went and found out for myself. I know this church is true because I studied and prayed to know the truth and the Spirit bore witness to me that it is true. I look around at everything that surrounds me and there is just no way all this beauty, love, and happiness just occurred by itself. There must be a God watching over us.

How I live my faith

When I was little, my parents took me to church with them every single Sunday and now that I'm older and out on my own, I still follow my parents example and attend church every single Sunday. I've learned for myself that this is the true church of God on this earth and it has brought me more joy and happiness than I can even express. My Heavenly Father has blessed me with so much more than I ever deserve and I feel like it's the least I can do to attend church as often as possible and keep His commandments. I live my life in such a way that tells my Father in Heaven that I love Him and I love His children. Serving others is just one of the many ways I spread His love to His children. I live my faith by emulating Christ's example. This is why I've decided to serve a mission. There are people in this world who need light and happiness in their life. This world is a lot bigger than you and me. Life is hard but we can help each other through it together.
