Hi I'm Katie

I live in the SF Bay Area. I am a nanny, and work at a candy store. I am in school studying fashion. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old and working full time as a nanny to the cutest kids in the world (until I have my own which will naturally be the cutest). I am a Saturday manager at an old fashion candy store and I am in school part time studying fashion merchandising. I love kids, naps, spontaneous drives to the beach, online shopping, getting snail mail, cooking, eating, (especially waffles with butterscotch syrup when I visit my favorite Aunt) and spending my free time with my sister. I love learning about different cultures, dressing up on Halloween (or other occasions), watching every episode of every season of a show on Netflix, and reading Dilbert before I fall asleep at night. I have dealt with serious depression in my life but since finding the perfect concoction of medicine I am loving life and eagerly anticipating what every new day holds.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. I have always had a testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ. Sometimes, especially in high school or when I have been making choices contrary to the teachings of Christ, my faith has wavered and I have felt an emptiness in my life. However, when I surround myself as much as possible with uplifting things and cut out the negative I feel a peace that is hard to explain. It is like being in a cozy warm sleeping bag on a frigid night camping.Everything can be headed in a downward spiral and yet you know that it will all be okay. Whether in this life or the next it will all work out. Through the Savior's atonement we can find the power to truly change. We can hand over our lives to him and his will and watch amazing things happen. Life is hard but having tools like The Book of Mormon, and prayer allows me to look forward to the future with a strong faith in Jesus Christ. When I devote myself to Him everything always seems to fall into place sooner or later. "I am encompassed about, because of the temptations and the sins which do so easily beset me. And when I desire to rejoice, my heart groaneth because of my sins; nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted. My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep. He hath filled me with his love, even unto the consuming of my flesh." 2 Nephi 4:18-21

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a full time missionary on the east coast. Prior to my mission on Sundays I was in charge of the 18month- 2 yr old's for two hours so that their parents could sit through the lessons in church uninterrupted. It is the best volunteer job. The kids are so hilarious and cute and the parents are so appreciative. It is hard work but worth it.
