Hi I'm Elaine

I grew up in the Western United States. My husband and I have 7 children and 14 grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My greatest hobby is my family. My husband and I raised 7 children in the Midwest, and as such were involved with the Church, our community and our kids' schools in helping with fund-raisers, scouting, attending parent-teacher conferences, band concerts, award assemblies, and the myriad of activities that go with having a large family. We are a close family and love to travel. Our biggest trip was a 7000 mile,3 week trip around the US, Canada and Mexico. When our youngest started school, I went back to the university and got my advanced degree and taught at there for 10 years. I also was the area coordinator for a children's performing group and we enjoyed serving the community by performing positive, upbeat programs. All too soon, our kids grew up, went to college and married. Now we have 14 grandchildren and continue to travel around to visit them. While we are not doing that, we are serving as full-time missionaries working with young single adults, first in Scandinavia and now in the UK. I love music and dancing, writing and traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a large Mormon family and learned about faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ and His Restored Church by their teachings and example. When I was still a teenager, I gained my own testimony through prayer and by the happiness living the gospel brought to me. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about its truthfulness. Towards the end of the Book of Mormon, there is a promise, found in Moroni 10:4, that those who read, ponder and pray with real intent, will receive a divine witness of its' truthfulness. I followed this and received a divine assurance of its truthfulness. It is my belief that everyone has their agency to believe what they choose. It is also my belief that we have a loving Heavenly Father, and it behooves us to learn of Him, how He wants us to live our lives, and the marvelous blessings He wants to bestow on us, His children. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been restored to the earth, through the direction of Jesus Christ. It is the same organization that He established during His ministry. Once again, the earth has prophets and apostles and the authority of the Holy Priesthood. This message is for all people. This is why we have over 50,000 full-time missionaries throughout the world.

How I live my faith

I have done a wide-variety of "callings" (Church assignments) over the years. I have served as an organist for over 30 years, a pianist, a music leader for the children of the congregation, as well as president of the children's organization, counselor and teacher. I have also served the young women (ages 12-18) as the president of a larger geographical group of 13 congregations. I also helped organize their summer camps, service projects and large religious gatherings, held training meetings for the youth leaders, and was a speaker on many occasions to small and large groups of young women. I also served as the President of the local congregation's women's organization, which included presiding over meetings, teaching, counseling and interviewing, and visiting women in the congregation at their homes to serve them better. My callings have helped me to have opportunities to serve others and grow personally in ways I wouldn't have done on my own. I am basically a shy, quiet person, but the Church has helped me to develop into a more loving person with a stronger desire to reach out to others as I have put forth efforts to become more like the Savior.
