Hi I'm Liz Jewkes

I grew up in Los Angeles and was raised by my awesome mother. I'm studying to be a preschool teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the quaint city of Cuautla, Morelos, Mexico. My family moved to the U.S. when I was 3. My wonderful angelic mother raised me in Los Angeles, California most of the time. We moved a lot, but only twice across state lines once we were in this country. I've always loved school, even when I say I don't because of homework or difficult classmates. I've very rarely been able to make myself go to sleep the night before the beginning of a school year. I love being a daughter, sister, wife, and friend. I love calendars, Elvis, spicy food, hiking, singing, and teaching. I work full time and I'm going to school to become a preschool teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in middle school two missionaries knocked on our family's door and taught me. With my mother's permission I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints. I know this changed my life forever for the better. They challenged me to pray to know if the Book of Mormon is of God, and I did just that. What I felt when I prayed is something I'll never forget. I felt peace and I felt God's love for me. I knew that the message the missionaries were sharing was true. Through the gospel I've come to know my place in this world. Since my baptism I have had so many questions about what to do and how to do it answered through prayer, scripture study, and the words of modern day prophets and apostles.

How I live my faith

I pray daily and study the scriptures to come closer to Heavenly Father. No matter where I am, I try to remember a children's song that says "Jesus says love everyone, treat them kindly too." At church I teach the young women and encourage them to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also help plan activities for them.
