Hi I'm Amy Chirinos

I grew up in California. I love people, sunny weather, and good music. I expect the unexpected. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 23 years old and just received my associate's degree from a local community college. I have nieces and nephews that I love more than life itself and enjoy spending as much time with them and my other family as possible. Life has led me down paths I did not expect to take, but I am generally happy with where my experiences have brought me. I love to sing and I dance whenever possible. I have recently adopted a love for running and completed my first official 10k in March 2013. I hope to someday complete a half marathon and then a marathon. While I love being outdoors, swimming, hiking, etc, I'm quite a home-body. I take great pleasure in reading a good book, watching movies, and playing board games. I try and look for ways to grow my talents and expand my sphere of influence; I love people and have a strong desire to touch as many lives as possible.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had the rare opportunity to be a member of Christ's true church all of my life. It is an opportunity I sometimes take for granted, but which I will be forever grateful for. The peace and joy the gospel of Christ brings is not to be compared to anything on this Earth; it is a feeling of home and family magnified by a thousand. It has provided me with the strength to overcome insurmountable obstacles and molds me into the person my Heavenly Father would have me be, helping me realize that my potential reaches far beyond what I see myself capable of. The gospel of Christ promises me that I will have the opportunity to be with my family forever. With all of the evil, uncertainty, and corruption that fills the world, it speaks truth and is an anchor, providing hope and an unwavering love to feed our minds and our spirits so we may endure even the hardest of times. The revelations received by prophets, both modern and ancient, have helped me to avoid the pitfalls of life, and has ensured me safe passage as long I follow their counsel. I am a Mormon because it makes the hard life bearable. And while I may feel like I am carrying the weight of the world, my burdens become light as I am filled with the knowledge the gospel brings, that my life has a purpose, I am loved by a Heavenly Father, and I have the opportunity to live with Him again in his mansions above.

How I live my faith

I have served in many different capacities within the church. For a couple of years, I served in the presidency of an organization for woman 18 and older. The organization concentrates its efforts on strengthening its members individually as well as collectively, in their emotional, spiritual, and physical needs. As a presidency, we focused our efforts on those in the most need and sought to invite others to join in strengthening their fellow "sisters". I have also served as a branch missionary. I made it a priority to invite all members of our faith, regardless of their individual commitment level, to strengthen their resolve to come unto Christ and follow Him. I extended this invitation to those outside of our faith as well. I will be continuing this work as I have accepted the opportunity to serve as a full-time missionary for the duration of 18 months. I have also often taken opportunities to share my belief in Christ with those with whom I associate regularly. I try to be as best a disciple of Christ as possible, taking opportunities to serve within my community as they come, volunteering at soup kitchens, food drives, roadside cleanup, etc.
