Hi I'm Mandy

I play the flute. I wear funky socks. I enjoy being crafty. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Manager at McDonald's in profession. I enjoy spending my off hours with my family. Also playing board games, watching movies, and reading like a fiend! I am very crafty, enjoying making home decor items as well as handmade cards, jewelry, and hair accessories, as well as the ever popular scrapbooking. I am also a knitter and crocheter, finding it fills the time when waiting places! I love camping and the outdoors, and never grew out of love of going to the zoo. I collect hats and funky colored socks.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and somehow I always knew that the gospel is true. Since we are a peculiar people this is actually a question I answer often. I am a Mormon because living the gospel and making the kinds of choices that follow it's precepts make me happy. I know that my Father in Heaven loves me eternally and He knows me personally. I know that because Christ atoned for my sins I can live with Him and with my family forever. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. I know that faith can bring me through any trial, and even if I don't have all the answers, my Heavenly Father does, and that he gives me trials to make me a stronger person and to make me happy in the end. I also love the knowledge that through the sealing power of the temple I can live with my family and the love of my life after this life is over, and for all eternity if I live worthily.

How I live my faith

I love serving in the Church and have held many callings in the past including teaching both music and Sunday School for young children in the primary, serving as the Activity Days leader for 8-11 year old girls and Young Women's Girl's Camp director. I'm currently serving in the Young Women's organization as a Personal Progress adviser helping the girls to complete goals and experiences to help them grow spiritually. I also enjoy temple work and attend as often as I can. I love learning about Church History and truly enjoyed trips to Church History sites such as Nauvoo and Carthage, one of which I met my husband on! We were married for time and all eternity in the Kansas City Temple, a blessing I count daily.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Mandy
Our body is a precious gift from God. To help keep our bodies and our minds healthy and strong, God gave a law of health to Joseph Smith in 1833. This law is known as the Word of Wisdom In addition to emphasizing the benefits of proper eating and physical and spiritual health, God has spoken against the use of: Tobacco. Alcohol. Coffee and tea. Illegal drugs. God promises great physical and spiritual blessings to those who follow the Word of Wisdom. Today, the scientific community promotes some of the same principles that a loving God gave to Joseph Smith nearly two centuries ago. Show more Show less
