Hi I'm Sister Barber!

I grew up in Texas, I love tennis, I'm on a mission!, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I went to college for a year and am now on an 18 month mission to Thailand! I am the youngest of 5 children, 3 of which are married. even though there is quite a large age gap between me and some of my siblings, we are still close.

Why I am a Mormon

My family is Mormon, but that's not why I've stayed in the church. I'm Mormon because I have prayed to know if this is the true church and received a witness it is. Also, why would I not be, when growing up, this church has brought nothing but peace and joy to my life? The "rules" are hard, especially at my age when all my friends my age are drinking for fun on the week ends, but I know what I have from the gospel is more lasting and fulfilling, then the temporal joy I could get from following the world.

How I live my faith

I go to church every week, while I was at college I was a young adult activity coordinator, and before that I was the chorister. As of right now I am on a mission!

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Sister Barber!
It's a nickname we were given by those not of our faith. One of the things that is different about our faith is our belief in the Book of Mormon. We believe it is ancient scripture reserved for us near the second coming. Well this has never endeared us to other churches, and so they refer to us as Mormons. Show more Show less
