Hi I'm Dan

I'm currently serving a mission in the NM, Farmington Mission. I'm an actor and musician in theater and on the web. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the 3rd child of my father; the 1st of my mother. Both of my parents are very educated scholars, and I am honored to be their son. I have 2 older "half" siblings and a younger brother. I also have a beautiful girlfriend who I swear is the one. Some might refer to me as a "Master of Thespianogue." I have been acting and singing on stage every opportunity I have been given since I was in grade school. I find great joy in being on stage and breathing life into the characters I have been cast as, and singing in choirs comes easy to me. I also apply my talents to the online community of YouTube, offering my voice in video game videos and fan animations. I've played My Little Ponies and Sonic the Hedgehog, all the way to evil alien overlords and Spartans from Halo. I'm also the co-founder and lead producer/voice actor of a popular YouTube studio devoted to producing fan content for the My Little Pony fandom, also known as the "brony" fandom. I graduated from High School with High Honors in 2012 and am currently a Sophomore at the university I attend because of numerous AP and concurrent classes I took while in High School. I am undeclared in my Major, but I am confident I will discover what I am meant to do when I leave on my mission. I am leaning towards something musical or theatrical. I am currently serving in the New Mexico, Farmington Mission! I couldn't think of a better place to serve the Lord!

Why I am a Mormon

As I said before, I was born and raised in the Church. My family and the love we share is reason enough for me to stay. But there is a reason I have stayed with this Gospel and all it brings to us. Not only do I consider this Church to be true in every aspect when it comes to God and Jesus and whats to happen when we pass on, but it is also a wonderful and all-around smart way to live life. In my experience and the experiences of non-member friends I have, active members of the Church are happier and more welcoming than most. My firm belief in this Gospel does not necessarily stem from a direct spiritual manifestation as most do, which I have had... No. My firm belief in this Gospel, my testimony, is cemented by music. The beautiful music of the Gospel and the talented people who are a part of it just... Well... Just warm my heart to no end. Music gave me hope when everything was bleak and hopeless. I know that this Church is true because through the music I have experienced and performed, I have felt the truthfulness of these things. I have felt the Spirit through music.

How I live my faith

I am quite active in my Ward. As I grew up, I have served as the President of two young men's groups and the secretary of another. As I became too old for the young men programs, due to my musical nature, I was called to serve as the chorister in Sacrament Meetings and in Priesthood meetings. Well...I guess I kind of took over for my poor mother at Sacrament meetings. She didn't like leading because, contrary to popular belief, she can't read music all that well. Haha. :) I love her to death. I owe my vocal talents to her. My father can't sing. At all. :P I was also very active in the Scouting Program at my Church and, thanks to the hard work and efforts of my epic scout leader, I became an Eagle Scout at the age of 15. I could never have done it without him. I have also sang and played the piano in my Church meetings on numerous occasions. I have a hard time accepting compliments, but I frequently get cards and teary-eyed hand-shakes after my performances, telling me I really brought the Spirit into the meeting. I'll take that as a signal I am doing a good job. :)

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Dan
You can accomplish this in many ways such as praying in the name of Jesus Christ if these things are true, attending Church, keeping the commandments, and asking members to share their experiences. But I promise you, whoever you are, that the next time you hear a LDS hymn or song arrangement, close your eyes. Relax. Let your mind be clear. Listen to the lyrics (or to the music if there is no lyrics) and what they (it) means, and I can promise you that you will have an experience like no other. An experience that will bring you closer to our Father in Heaven in some way. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Dan
The Atonement, to me, is the single greatest sacrifice anyone could ever make. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ knelt down in a garden one night... And bled from every pore. In an instant, He experienced everything bad that every human being will ever experience. Sickness, trials, injuries, emotional pain, sin....everything, literally everything bad we as humans can possibly experience. THAT is why He knows our pain when we experience these hard times. And finally, He experienced the big one on the cross... Death. He died, only to return and finish His ministry on Earth three days later. He suffered, bled, and died for us so that we can once again return to live with our Father in Heaven and live with our families for all eternity. Show more Show less
