Hi I'm Emily

I grew up in Utah. I'm the oldest of four children. I love traveling, art, and science. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have many different hobbies and interests, including reading, writing, drawing, and music. I am a college student currently studying microbiology. I love to travel to new places where I am able to experience new things and meet new people. I often travel with my family, and we have been to many different places throughout the country. From going whale watching in California to riding Segways in Boston, I have had many fun and unique experiences! I love learning new skills and meeting new people, so I have joined many different sports teams and been in many different school clubs. When I was in high school, I met many of my friends through clubs such as FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), Key Club (a service club), and Journalism. I am currently serving as a full-time missionary in the Philippines Cauayan Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe the teachings of the Church to be true. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me, and I can feel this love especially when I choose to keep His commandments and live the gospel. I know that the Book of Mormon truly is the word of God, and that by reading it we can return to live with Him again. My testimony of the gospel has been a great comfort to me throughout my life. It has helped me to overcome many obstacles and trials throughout my life. The gospel has acted as a guiding standard throughout my life, and the best decisions I have ever made and that have benefited me the most throughout my life have been made because I believed that they were what my Heavenly Father would want me to do. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that through the power of His atonement our sins can be washed away if we continue to repent and keep his commandments throughout our lives. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that we have a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who helps us to know what the Lord needs us to do in these modern days. I know that the gospel has helped me throughout my life and that it will continue to help me and guide me throughout my life if I continue to follow it.

How I live my faith

I have had a few different church callings, but I think my favorite was my calling that I had in high school when I was the Laurels President in Young Womens (meaning that I was the president of the 16-18 year old girls' youth group.) I loved being able to help plan fun activities and service projects for us to do. I have always been interested in activities that can help improve my community, both in my church callings and in other environments such as school. When I was in the FBLA club in high school, I was in charge of the community service projects, and I organized a project that allowed students from the high school to volunteer at the local elementary school. By organizing this project, I was able to help not only the elementary school students but the high school students as well! I know that our Heavenly Father wants us to help and serve others, and I am glad that I can find ways to do this in my own community and that I have been able to have the opportunity to see how my service to others can help to improve their lives and help me to learn and grow as an individual. I recently received my call to serve a mission in the Philippines, and this will also allow me to have a chance to help other people.
