Hi I'm Courtney Schramm

I'm a California native that loves the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

About Me

I am the second oldest of seven kids. I have great parents that taught me by example how to work hard and have fun. My husband and I have been married for three years after dating for two. He teaches me every day how to live life with a smile. Running used to be such a challenge for me, but after deciding to conquer it, it has definitely been my escape. I love nature and God's creations so going outdoors is one of my passions. I also love capturing and seeing that beauty through a lens. I love music and playing sports. I am a native west coast girl, but have recently moved to the south after graduating from college at BYU. It's been awesome being surrounded by southern hospitality and among people who love God.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in the opposite of the saying "Eat, Drink, and be Merry for tomorrow you'll die". There is much more to live for! Going along with this saying there is the basis for 'life is too short'. I believe that life is too short to not live for something more. It helps me in my every day decisions and problems to know that God sees more potential in me. I love the feeling that it is worth trying better every day. This gospel has given me the discipline of hard work-- not really physically, but mentally. I can mentally conquer negative thoughts and feelings by choosing to think of good things. Since this has never been easy for me naturally, I have learned to lean on the teachings of Jesus Christ for strength and guidance to overcome even the hardest trials. Everyone experiences different hardships that no one else can really understand. It is comforting to know that I have a Savior that does understand. Through Him we are able to accomplish our goals and feel true joy.

How I live my faith

My faith is the basis for all areas of my life. My priorities are my family, relationships, church, physical activities, work, and traveling. I try and see the beauty in my surroundings and also in people. Sometimes it's hard to not judge people or their decisions. I've learned from experience that being enveloped in other people's decisions and actions can waste my time and consume my thoughts. It shouldn't be my concern and my biggest job is to love and support. Giving my time in service and sharing my talents are small ways I can show my Heavenly Father that I'm thankful for my blessings. Sometimes people just need a big smile from me and some days that's all I can give! I've learned that when I'm having a hard day, the best way to change my attitude is think about others and help someone else. That shows me that true joy comes from learning about Jesus Christ and his example of service and love. I know I get caught up in the decisions and small day to day things, but I try and keep a larger perspective to make sure that those small decisions are in line with my bigger goals and wants. I try and wake up every day and make the decision to be happy-- that always seems like the hardest part!
