Hi I'm Phil

I grew up all over the east coast of USA and lived in most of the States east of the Mississippi River. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I coach High School football and totally love it. Football is the ultimate team sport and, I believe, almost all of the lessons and values you can learn there apply directly to life. I enjoy shooting (mainly handgun and rifle) and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as mainly a Methodist and a Presbyterian and attended a Baptist University. I actually had a pretty bad experience in college because I constantly challenged my Preacher/Professors to explain Biblical and Theological things to me and would challenge them that their explanations did not make sense or were not believable. The result of that experience was that I became Agnostic for about 20 years. I was still fascinated by religion in general and when I hit 40 started a quest to find out more about the World's religions and all the various denominations of Christianity. During this search I found Mormonism and the more I found out about all all the religions and denominations the more the Mormon church made sense to me. I decided to pray for God to give me guidance about what was true and in the next several weeks found out three or four people I really respected and looked up to were Mormon and I had not even known. It's really hard to explain as it was not really that "gee whiz/bang" moment like you hear about for some people. In my case it was more of a realization that a "light had slowly turned on in me" that made me realize that the Church was true and right. That was four years ago and even to this day I learn things that affirm to me that I am doing and believing the right thing(s).

How I live my faith

To me, religion is a personal matter so I generally do not talk to a lot of people about my individual beliefs and "what I do to promote Mormonism". I try to live by the principles of the Bible and Book of Mormon to the best of my ability and truly believe that if you truly do the best you can do in that endeavor that God will Bless us now, as well as later.
