Hi I'm Susan Hansen

I'm a nurse and just recently retired. I'm a Mormon and my husband and I were just called to serve a mission in Uganda.

About Me

I am married and a mother of 3 children and grandmother of 7 grandchildren. I recently reitred from working as an RN after forty plus years. I decided I wanted to be a full-time grandmother. I enjoy playing piano and organ, golf, and all types of hand sewing.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a very active Mormon family but decided when I left home to attend Brigham Young University that I needed to obtain my own testimony. No miracle happened when I prayed for an answer, I just had a calming reassurance come over me that told me my Heavenly Father loves me, this Church is true and the gospel it teaches can show me the way to live my life so I can return back to Him some day. The gospel has always seemed simple...it provides for me Hope and Peace. I cannot imagine not having its teachings to help me when I face trials. I never feel alone for I know that I have a Heavenly Father I can talk to anytime. It gives me peace knowing that the most important people to me on this earth can be with me throughout all eternity. As a mother, nothing could be more precious. Peace also comes through knowing that if I do all I can to return to my Heavenly Father, the Savior, through His Atonement, will make up the difference. This message of Hope and Peace is what I want to share with the world.

How I live my faith

I have always enjoyed serving in the church. Most often I am asked to play the organ or piano for church. I started playing the organ in church at the age of 10 and have had that opportunity for many years. I have also enjoyed serving in the women's organization as it gave me a chance to get to know my "sisters" and the struggles and joys in their lives. I have also enjoyed serving in the youth and children's organizations. Being able to serve others as well as look after and care for one another is an important part of our Church and not only benefits others but can help me develop Christ-like attributes.
