Hi I'm Aubrey

I'm a musician serving a mission in Guadalajara, México. I was raised in a single-parent home on love and books. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I. Love. Music. It's always been something I've connected to. From my first 'favorite' song (and it still is my all-time favorite!) to the performances I've done at school, in church, and my choir's performance in Carnegie Hall I have always felt something. I have a passion for it, it makes me feel alive. I was raised in a single-parent home by an incredible mother. Divorce is never easy on a family, but my mother has always exhibited faith in a bright future... Even when a situation seems bleak, perhaps insurmountable. She didn't have a college education and that hit us hard during the divorce. We stood on some scary, shaky ground. But she has pushed through, furthered her education, and (by doing so) she has taught me to not only get a college education but to take it all the way. I'm kind of a pioneer in my family: the first woman seeking a full college education to the doctorate level as well as having my own family (eventually, after a mission and some more maturity). My mother raised me to believe I can do ANYTHING that I set my mind to. That's why I have set my standards and my goals so high. Because I believe I can make it. Really, I can-- ANYONE can! I have big dreams and (you bet!) an ever-growing bucket list. I am planning on working towards a doctoral degree in music composition. I want to publish music, perform music, and make a difference.

Why I am a Mormon

Ever since I was a child, I recognized the 'good feeling' I get when I go to church, help a friend, or listen to uplifting music. Over time, I have learned that 'good feeling' is called the Holy Ghost-- and it can be with me all the time if I strive to live worthy of it. I have learned that there is a difference between good and evil-- this difference is often compared to a line. This line is sometimes blurred by the world's standards. This line is what makes the change in my life from ordinary to spectacular. My life will never be perfect. Life (in general) can so often be hedged up with potential fears, doubts, trials, and seemingly unanswerable questions. But the conclusion I have come to, every time, is with Jesus Christ I have no need to fear or doubt. He has made it possible for me, in this seriously mortal state, to conquer those things. He helps me to tear down the walls made of my thoughts of inadequacy, He carries me through my trials, and He quiets my confusion. I know I can receive answers from God. I am SO in debt to Heavenly Father for placing me here, where I am, at this time because I have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. I have the potential to be the greatest me imaginable! Christ can help me become more, so I try to live each moment with this in mind-- how could I ignore it? I can be ANYTHING, just as my mother taught me, through my works and faith in Jesus Christ and His restored gospel on this earth. I hope to invite all to come unto Christ.

How I live my faith

My faith means everything to me. I try to live my faith in... well, everything. From the music I compose to the expression on my face, I try to live like Christ. I´ve played the organ on Sundays for church and it's been a tremendous experience. Music changes the whole meeting and I know it can change a life. I love music and it's mainly because the feelings I get while I listen to, practice, or perform music are so closely related to the Holy Ghost. I can feel it burn or whisper to me, within me and it's so incredible. I am currently serving a year and a half long mission for my church- and it's been amazing. I have learned so much about myself, God, and life. I chose this because I know I can make an impact. One conversation can turn a life around. I want to serve the Lord and help others gain a knowledge of the same things I have learned over the years... because it has, truly, altered my life. Forever and beyond. I have chosen to live my life day by day and make this world a better place. I'm not out to stop world hunger-- though, I am all for supporting that! But I believe this world can be improved daily by simple, random acts of kindness. It sometimes may seem out of the way for us to do certain things for other people... But, why not? I have had callings that involve reaching out to those who are facing trials- and that's something I enjoy. I apply this concept to all of my relationships. Everyone deserves a genuine friend.
