Hi I'm Matthew Dawson

I was raised in Salt Lake City. I will be serving a mission in Honduras starting 29 May 2013. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of a family of four boys. I have graduated High School and just finished two semesters of college studying computer science and engineering. I love to go dirtbiking and have ridden trails all over Utah. There is nothing like ripping the throttle wide open on a motorcycle. I also like snowboarding and am thankful for the awesome powder that I can shred. I love my family and am excited for the future.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the Book of Mormon. I did not truly consider myself a Mormon until I read the entire Book of Mormon and followed the promise given in Moroni 10:3-5. I sincerely asked God to know of it's truthfulness, at a point in my life when I needed direction and guidance. I received an answer and I do know the Book of Mormon is true. Because of this, I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know that through Joseph Smith, the same Apostolic priesthood keys that were given during Christ's ministry, have been restored and because of those priesthood keys, my life has been blessed in countless ways. I know that God lives. I know He loves all of us, His children, and he loves me. I know that He will answer my prayers and guide me back to him. Of these things I testify in the sacred name of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am currently preparing to serve in the Honduras San Pedro Sula West Mission, beginning 29 May 2013. I live my faith by taking the truths that I have learned through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and applying them in my life, such as tithing, living the Law of Chastity, being honest. I have been a home teacher to visit and assist people in my ward. At college, I would with my companion home teach an apartment of six girls, I lived and live my faith by trying to help them and continue to help others in any form.

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Matthew Dawson
Mormons believe that we are all sons and daughters of God. As such, death is not the end for, us but we are eternal beings with an immortal spirit. When we die, we can be with our loved ones again and can see God and Christ. Death is necessary for us to return to the presence of God, and one day, our spirits will be reunited with our bodies, in perfect form, never to be separated, which is called resurrection. This resurrection was made possible by the atonement, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Matthew Dawson
The Book of Mormon is very special. It is another witness to the life of Jesus Christ, as the Bible witnesses Christ's divinity. The Book of Mormon is a collection like the Bible, with writings of ancient prophets. Lehi, a prophet in The Book of Mormon, was commanded by God to leave Jerusalem with a group of people hundreds of years before Christ. They came to the American continent, and flourished. There are many prophets in the Book of Mormon, each testiying of the Savior. Within the Book of Mormon, the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is contained. Christ's mission, His Atonement, His love, and His Gospel of faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end are all taught in the Book of Mormon. These doctrines allow us to live with God again, and those who have passed on. The teachings of Christ are most evident when Christ appears to the people in the Americas in the book of 3rd Nephi. By reading The Book of Mormon, everyone can get answers to personal questions that truly matter. Every person can know that the Book of Mormon is true by then sincerely praying to God. The Holy Ghost will then testify The Book of Mormon's truthfulness, as stated in Moroni 10:3-5. I know The Book of Mormon is true, and that it is the word of God. Show more Show less
