Hi I'm Chantelle

I go to the University of Utah, I love to do gymnastics, read and play the piano and travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi I'm Chantelle, I am 18 years old and am a current undergrad student. I am double majoring in political science and social work as well as minoring in Spanish and psychology. I hope one day to go to Oxford Law School in England. I love to do gymnastics and I was a gymnast for 10 years. I competed in state championships as well as on a national level. I now work as a gymnastics coach and teach children how to do gymnastics. I love travelling and exploring what the world has to offer. I love reading all kinds of books! Reading is a way for me to relax and forget about everything else. Some of my favorite books are Pride and Prejudice and The Help. I volunteer at a school every week where I teach English to adult immigrants from Mexico and Vietnam and it is a wonderful and rewarding experience. Music has always been very special to me. I love playing the piano and I also love to listen to other people play instruments because I admire the talent that they possess. The beach is my favorite place in the world. I could spend hours on the beach everyday reading or just walking on the shoreline and never tire of it. Every year me and my family and extended family go to California and hang out on the beach for a week during Christmas vacation and it is my favorite part of the year. I love spending time with my family and friends and doing the things that I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know of the the joy, peace and happiness that being a member of this church brings to families and individuals across the world everyday. This gospel provides a way for everyone to fix past mistakes and become better people. Life is not easy and there are trials that every person has to go through, but this gospel gives me the knowledge and comfort of knowing that I never have to go through anything alone. God knows me and he knows my heart. He knows my dreams, plans and goals and he only wants what is best. I know that because he loves me he has provided me with the Book of Mormon as well as the Bible to use as a map to navigate through this earthly life. I love the Book of Mormon and cherish the teachings found in the pages. There is no doubt in my mind that the book is not true. There is no earthly way that a boy with no formal education could have written such as amazing book, it is directly from God and testifies of prophets long ago. I know that by reading the book sincerely, anyone will be able to feel the truth of its words and it will be a friend to you when you have no one else. I am a Mormon because I want my family to be together forever, not just here in this earthly life. I know that because of Jesus Christ I will be able to be with all of my family forever and that I will see my loved ones who have passed away again. Jesus gave us his gospel because he loves us and wants to help us. The gospel is so simple and definite and anybody who knows, loves and lives this gospel will feel and see the power and love of God in their lives and in the lives of their families everyday.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an active member of my Young Single Adult ward. This ward is specifically designed for young single adults between the ages of 18 and 30 and it is a great place to meet new people and make friends. My job or calling in the ward is to be apart of the friendship committee. When someone new joins are ward, I make them feel welcome and learn more about them. This way they do not have to feel alone when they come to church. I also participate in ward choir and join in various ward activities.I have a visiting teaching companion and together we go and visit other girls in our ward and check up on them and talk about anything they want to. Last year I was the president of the Laurel class ( a group of young women between the ages of 16-18) We planned fun activities as well as meaningful service projects in our community. I am also living my faith by beginning my service as an LDS missionary in August. I am very excited for this new opportunity in my life. I live my faith by serving others and fulfilling my callings.
