Hi I'm Hilary

From San Diegan native to BYU college student to Business Analyst intern. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a recent Chicago resident I love exploring the museums, seeing the beautiful city architecture and running along the lake. I was born and raised in San Diego and love back floating in the ocean, hiking the canyon trails and reading books in my backyard. I like to put myself in new situations and notice the joys that come from observing beauty, interacting with different types of people and watching myself grow as I try and learn new things. I am a 3-year vegetarian, a college student, a runner, a self-proclaimed artist, a business analyst and a good friend. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

One of my favorite things about the LDS Church is that it encourages people to ask thoughtful questions. After Christ came to the Earth many churches were formed that thought they now had all the answers God was going to give. However, in the early 1800's Joseph Smith prayed sincerely to God to know which church had His truth. I was born into this church but since a young age I constantly asked questions, prayed about them and was able to receive spiritual confirmations of the truth of this gospel. While my conversion was not a single drastic event, I have found that as I continue to pray, be obedient, and study the gospel these truths are reaffirmed through the Holy Spirit of God. I can testify that this gospel is true and that when I live by its guiding standards and principles I find true joy and happiness in my life. I know that God knows us personally, loves us and has a plan for each one of us. I am so grateful that Jesus Christ came down to Earth to fulfill this plan and atone for the sins of every individual that will ever live on the Earth. I am far from perfect and I am so grateful that we all have access to the atonement and can repent and recover from any mistakes we make. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love us so much and just want us to find happiness in this life through the gospel so we can return to live with them in Heaven. I know that if we sincerely want to know if this gospel is the right one, the Holy Spirit will answer this question and testify of its truth. We only need to ask.

How I live my faith

My most recent chance to participate in church was as a Relief Society teacher. Every other Sunday I was put together a collection of scriptures, talks from our church's leadership, and personal experiences into a lesson (that usually involved some sort of treat as well) and delivered it to the women during the third hour of church. I found that in my preparation for these lessons I always ended up learning something through the Holy Spirit that I needed in my life at that time. The women in these lessons were always so good about contributing their thoughts and experiences as well that it not only helped my lessons run smoothly but also helped touch the lives of so many people through their sharing. I am always grateful for the opportunity to serve in my church and help facilitate discussions that help people feel the Holy Spirit and love of God.
