Hi I'm Jessica

I am the oldest of 4 children. I love playing sports and eating chocolate. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 4 kids. I love my family more than anything. I am not very athletic but I love trying new sports. I love quotes and song lyrics. I am currently serving an 18 month mission in Portland Oregon. The gospel brings me so much joy and I love life.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the happiness and hope that the teachings of this church brings me. I grew up in the church but I, like everyone else, had to figure out and know for themselves that this church is true. I found out the church is true by reading the Book of Mormon and getting answers to my prayers throught reading. One of my favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon is Mosiah 2:41. "And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it." All you have to do is keep the commandments and you'll be happy. Easy as that. I've done it and I'm happy. Who doesn't want to be happy?

How I live my faith

I learned in church how to read scriptures and get answers to questions. I had to really rely on my Heavenly Father and his plan and the teachings of my teachers in church. I relied on that and my friends and families testimonies all through high school and college. One time before General Conference I knelt in prayer and asked my Heavenly Father what I should do after I graduate with my associates degree because I did not want to continue in school because it was not my thing and I had no money. The first thing that was said in General Conference was the missionary age change. Girls could now serve missions at age 19. I got an overwhelming warm feeling that that was my answer and I had to go. That feeling I was feeling was the spirit. If I was not keeping the commandments and living right I would not have got my answer. Preparing for my mission is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It has pushed me to read the whole Book of Mormon. Before then I had never finished the Book of Mormon all the way through. I have just read bits and pieces. I know without a doubt it is true. I have been the happiest I have ever been. It is hard, but so rewarding. The journey is not going to be easy, but worth it.
