Hi I'm Bao

I'm from Utah. I am Vietnamese. I am a musician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of two. I have an older sister. I am attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I play trombone, guitar and bass guitar and I love music. I am a 3rd degree black belt in karate. I am preparing to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Phnom Penh Cambodia.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, my family wasn't very religious. I knew about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from my neighbors. One day, I asked my cousin, who had served a full-time mission, about what they believed in. He explained to me that we are children of a Heavenly Father and that families could be together for eternity and how to pray. I had voiced my curiosity to my mom, who had been baptized but wasn't active in the Church, and she contacted the missionaries that night to set up an appointment for them to come over to teach. After hearing their lessons, I knew joining the Church was the right thing to do. I was baptized when I was 10. I am a Mormon because I know that families can be together forever. I know that we are children of a Heavenly Father who wants us to be like him. I know that no matter how much we mess up that through Jesus Christ and His Atonement, we can be forgiven and we can move on. I know and testify that it is never too late to be the way you wish you would have been. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and by reading and pondering and abiding by it's teachings, we can come to know God and become like Jesus Christ. I know and have experienced the power and strength that comes from living the Gospel. I have seen the difference it makes in the lives of those who live the Gospel's principles. I am a Mormon because of the blessings of peace, happiness and knowledge it brings to me.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite things to do is to have a conversation with someone about life. Throughout high school and even my freshman year of college, I have been able to have these conversations with people I know. I love sharing the Gospel with people who are interested and I love just getting to know people. Being friendly and genuine with people is one way I am able to be an example of the Gospel. Because of my job, I am blessed with the opportunity to work with kids of all ages. I know that what I say and what I do can have an impression on them so I try to always be an example of what I believe. In a few months, I will be serving a full-time mission and will get to share a wonderful message with people everyday for two years.
