Hi I'm Abbie

I'm a college student from Utah. I love music, classic literature, Cary Grant, and my five lovely sisters. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student from Northern Utah, currently serving a mission in Columbus, Ohio. I have five beautiful sisters who are my best friends. I'm currently studying Early Childhood Education and hope to teach kindergarten someday. I am a huge classic literature nerd - an ideal afternoon for me would involve a hammock and a Charles Dickens novel. Some of my other favorites include Les Miserables, Sherlock Holmes, and The Scarlet Pimpernel. I love music, theater, and old movies of the Danny Kaye, Audrey Hepburn variety.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been blessed to be a member of the church my entire life. I have worried in the past that I've relied too heavily on the testimony of my parents, and that I wasn't firm enough in my faith. But I have a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that Joseph Smith is the prophet who restored Christ's true church to us. I know that the Book of Mormon is true - that it is a record of God's children and His dealings with them; a testament of Jesus Christ, translated by the gift and power of God. I am a Mormon because I know these things are true, and I'm grateful that I have been blessed with this knowledge.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and will spend the next 18 months sharing the gospel with people in Ohio. I am extremely excited for the opportunity to go and serve. I know that Heavenly Father has prepared people in Ohio to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to come unto Him, and I'm excited to be a part of that chapter in their lives. I love to share the gospel through music - I believe it is one of the most powerful testimonies that can be shared.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Mormon missionaries proselyte because the gospel is personal. The best way to learn it or teach it is person to person. While big group meetings and gatherings are important, when a person is just beginning to make steps in the gospel, it is important that someone be there to answer questions or fulfill needs that are specific to that person. Missionaries have the opportunity to share the gospel with the world, and are following the Lord's commandment to teach all nations. One of my favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon is 2 Nephi, Chapter 2, verse 8, which stresses the importance of making known to all people that Jesus is the Christ, and that there is no way to attain eternal life except through Him.
