Hi I'm Bryan

I'm a high school science teacher, and Trekkie, a nature lover, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a high school science teacher since 2002. I love my work and enjoy being able to interact with young people. I also enjoy nature and the outdoors. I love visiting zoos and I am a volunteer at the Calgary Zoo, helping out with their special events and their youth program on occasion. I am a fan of Star Trek, having been raised on it by my mother. I enjoy traveling and meeting new people. I read all sorts of books, with some of my favorites being "Life of Pi", "The Shack", and the Shannara books by Terry Brooks. I have been married to my wonderful wife Heather since 2010. In 2012 we welcomed our precious daughter Barbara (named after my mother) to our family. She has brought so much joy and happiness into our lives. Being a husband and father have turned out to be the greatest experiences of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. I know that it is true. I know that this is Christ's church. He established it once when he walked among men, and then restored it through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that through His atoning sacrifice that I can be forgiven of my sins and be with my family forever. I have had many trials and difficulties in my life that I have had to overcome, and by staying close to the gospel and the church has helped me to do that.

How I live my faith

I know that I am not perfect, nor do I expect anyone else to be perfect. I attend my meetings faithfully. Since the temple opened in Calgary in 2012 I have been going at least once a week. When I travel somewhere that has a temple I make a point to go. The temple blessings are a major focus in my life. I have found about 800 names for my family history, which drives my wife and I to go to the temple often. I mostly try to live my faith by example. My friends and co-workers know that I do not participate in certain activities and respect me for it.
