Hi I'm Emily

I'm a hockey fan, a Michigan Wolverine, a convert, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a Michigan native, college admissions counselor and economics graduate student who loves Detroit sports, hockey, reading, being a Michigan Wolverine, dancing, shopping, gluten free cooking, and spending time with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know the Gospel is true and because it has changed my life for the better. I graduated from college and at 21, had everything I had strived for: a good job, a nice car, and a busy social life, but I still wasn't happy. I felt compelled to reach out to the missionaries from, you guessed it, mormon.org! I accepted their challenge to read the Book of Mormon. I read, studied, prayed, and knew it was true. Within the month, I was baptized. Becoming a Mormon was the best decision I have ever made - the Gospel doesn't purport to make your life perfect, but it gives you the ability to make the best of absolutely everything and know you're never alone. I am so grateful to be a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing the gospel with as many people as I can and trying to be more like the Savior everyday. At church, I reach out to new Young Single Adults from all over the Metro-Detroit area and invite them to attend our church, I also choose music for our Sunday meetings and update the area Facebook page!

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Emily
Reading the scriptures, the words or living prophets, and praying for a closer relationship with Jesus Christ make all the difference in increasing your faith in Jesus Christ. Personally - the Book of Mormon really helped me understand how much Jesus Christ loves me personally and understands my challenges so perfectly - which helped me strengthen my faith in Christ. What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Emily
Mormon women are amazing! You'll find them in the workplace, classroom, at home - really anywhere. Mormons absolutely believe in equality between the genders. It is a common misconception that we do not because there are so many differences between men and women, however we are perfect compliments just the way that God created us. I am honestly proud and happy to be a Mormon women. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Emily
There is absolutely a prophet alive today. We are so blessed to live in a time when there is a prophet to guide us in our choices. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God and I feel reassured daily that under his guidance, we will be able to learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and what we, as Latter-day Saints, need to do today to be closer to our Heavenly Father. I love that we are able to gain insight into issues that affect Christians today, such as how to appropriately use media to share the Gospel, that the scriptures do not directly touch on! How can I know Mormonism is true?

Emily
The greatest thing I can tell you is that God lives today. He wants you to be happy and succeed here on earth. You can know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true by praying to Heavenly Father, studying the scriptures and listening for a response. Sometimes it may come quickly and sometimes you must remain diligent and wait, but I can promise you that God will always answer your prayers to know the truth in all things. Show more Show less
