Hi I'm Tanner Tait

I love archery, rock-climbing, tennis, and cinema. Watching movies are literally my favorite things to do. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the sticks, or in Cheney, Washington, USA. My backyard is all wheatfields, and I delight in running up through them with my dog, Bilbo Baggins. Archery is one of my larger interests and something that calms me down. Tennis and rock-climbing are also large interests of mine. I have a huge passion for everything movies, with my favorites including the Lord of the Rings trilogy (extended editions), A River Runs Through It, Seven Pounds, Citizen Kane, etc. Love movies. I would like to make them as well. I go to college at BYU-Idaho and have done so since 2010. I am the youngest of six boys, and I also really enjoy teaching.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World and the Only Begotten Son of God. I know that we are all sons and daughters of God, and that He wants only the best for us, and for us to return to Him through our faith and love for Him and mankind. I know that the world lost Christ's true church when He and the apostles were killed. But more importantly, I know that through the Prophet Joseph Smith and his humble prayer on the many confusing religious parties of the time, Heavenly Father and His Son restored the true gospel of Christ back to the earth. God and His Son truly live, and Christ suffered and died that we may live. He did rise from the dead and He, with the Father, do watch over us.

How I live my faith

Living by faith is very difficult, and my testimony and strength have always been less than what I would want them to be. That being said, I cannot read the Book of Mormon, Bible, or the History of the Church without knowing of its truthfulness. I was blessed to be born to my parents, and thank them for raising me right. My faith has increased significantly over the past several months, and I can account that towards daily scripture study, prayer, and learning to rely on the Lord. It all makes sense and "clicks" when I read from the Scriptures.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Tanner Tait
Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet of God, even today. He receives revelation from our Heavenly Father in behalf of the Church, because we do not believe that God ceases to speak to His children, nor show forth His eternal and infinite love. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Tanner Tait
As members of the true Church of Jesus Christ, we know it to be our duty to help our fellow man and to do all we can to build up the Kingdom of God on the earth. As we all have families to raise and support, and lives to live, we are also expected to provide for ourselves as best we can. Because this work is so important, we gladly give up the time we have to help those in need and fulfill the work God, our Heavenly Father, has given us to do. We know that "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God (Mosiah 2: 17). Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Tanner Tait
The grace of God and the Lord Jesus Christ is absolutely real. By His grace, we are saved, but only after we have done all we can do. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the most important event in history and holds together the entire Plan of Happiness or Salvation. He suffered body and spirit so that we could all have the opportunity to return to our Father in Heaven. This gift is more great that any of us can comprehend, and it is given when we accept Christ as our Savior and follow Him. Following Him includes keeping His lovingly given commandments and enduring to the end. 2 Nephi 10:24 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved. 2 Nephi 25:23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do. What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Tanner Tait
Our purposes are many. A prophet wrote that "...this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors. We are here to learn and grow and choose for ourselves the manner of lives we want to live. Our Father in Heaven has given us insight into the how we can return to live with Him and our families forever. Through His Son, Jesus Christ, a path has been secured in which we can return to Them and be not ashamed of our sins, because we can receive forgiveness as we repent and follow our Savior. Furthermore, that which we leave this world with in terms of personality, knowledge, and character will be ours still in the life to come! All the more reason to learn, grow, and prepare! Our purpose, in short, is to reach for the potential for which any good father would want for his child. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Tanner Tait
A missionary's role is that of a teacher and a friend. Feel free to ask questions and they will be more than happy to address them and any concerns you may have. You may even request to learn more about a certain topic from them. Don't be afraid to ask. A unique and special message of our church, however, is that after the death of Christ and the apostles, the authority to act in God's name was taken or lost from the earth. The people rejected Christ and His servants. Thus, the True Church fell without proper leadership. Due to the confusion of early American religious excitement, Joseph Smith knelt in humble prayer just wanting to know the truth of things. God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him, chose him, and through him restored the Church of Jesus Christ back to the earth. It is a powerful message that many of us can connect with, and one that the missionaries would teach about after answering your questions. Show more Show less
