Hi I'm Janice

I am an actress. I am a student. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Magic is created when one enters the theatre and feels the vibes of creative thoughts bouncing everywhere. With costumes, makeup, set, lights, sound, and actors creating a world for the audience to step into, they are taken to a place where they can learn about themselves, those around them, and realize that there is always more life to be enjoyed. Discovery. I love creating a character that can do that for an audience member (and myself). I love theatre to the core, so even with full house lights on, actors in street clothes, and a half-built set, I am taken to that magical place. I strive to “connect” with my acting partners—when we are both living in the moment, have an equal amount of give and take, and creating real emotions that can’t help but be evoked in those experiencing the moment with us. Having that “connection” by being vulnerable and open lets me create scenes of truth. I may be acting out a fictional story with a fictional character, but by giving it real depth, truth can be spoken through emotions, reactions, and the expression of human life. When truth is spoken in theatre, and the audience feels a “connection” to the actors and their performance, I believe that is the Holy Ghost. Everyone has a spirit, and the way it communicates is through feelings and emotions. I work for that connection with the audience. If I feel it, I know I have done my job being an instrument in the Lords hands to help bring truth to those around me.

Why I am a Mormon

Because it’s true. My whole life whenever I have been taught about Christ and different aspects of the gospel, it just clicks and makes sense. It makes sense logically, as well as feels good spiritually. I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it is true, and I have felt the comforting and calming feelings of the spirit testifying of its truthfulness. I obey the commandments and keep covenants I have made with God because I believe they will bring me happiness—and they do! I am happier more often and less likely to get annoyed when I consistently read my scriptures, pray, and go to church. I know that I am a daughter of God and He loves me. The true gospel has been restored to the earth, and I have the privilege of knowing that.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday. I constantly find inspiration for my life through those speaking and teaching lessons. The root of the inspiration is usually a pick-me-up that gives me more motivation to live a righteous life and to remain strong in my faith in Jesus Christ. Not only am I able to learn from others, I have opportunities to share my testimony with them. During classes with a discussion format, I am able to give insights on scriptures and share personal experiences of faith. I have daily personal scripture study where my love for God’s word increases. By reading daily I am able to strengthen the influence of the Holy Ghost in my life. I have my perspective readjusted for more long-term goals and I am brought back to what is really important in life. By getting this type of spiritual direction every day, I can know I am on the right path to get me back to Heavenly Father.
