Hi I'm Darren

I grew up in Canada. I'm an avid hockey fan. I enjoy lacrosse and computers. I'm a software engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband, a father of 5, a former collegiate lacrosse player, a software engineer and a huge hockey fan. I grew up in Vancouver Canada. I have lived in Utah, North Carolina and Washington states. I'm a HAM radio operator and love to go whale watching.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have come to realize that there is much more to this life than is evident on the surface. Life does not begin at birth nor end at death. There is much more to it than that. I've been a Software Engineer for twenty plus years. I deal with logic daily. I cannot look at the universe or the human body and believe for a moment that things just happen. Sure there may be some elements of evolution, but there is something bigger than us all that architected this -- a Supreme being who created these things. We have a Father in Heaven who loves us. He architected a plan that, if followed, would allow us to return to live with Him some day. His son Jesus Christ is the key figure in this plan. Jesus Christ came to earth, lived a perfect life as an example for me to follow, suffered for my mistakes, died and then rose from the dead and lives today. Because of Him, if I live to the best of my abilities, I can return to live with my Father in Heaven after this earth life. This is the hope that I live for...that if I do my best to follow Jesus Christ, he will make up the difference of where I fall short, and I can then live with Him, my Father in Heaven, and my earthly family forever.

How I live my faith

I currently work with the Young Men in my congregation -- I teach them lessons on Sundays, work with them during their weekly youth activity night, and go camping with them as one of their Scout leaders. Each morning my family reads scriptures together, we attend church services weekly and spend one evening a week together having an activity night we call Family Home Evening. I have one son who has returned from a church mission and one serving right now.
