Hi I'm Kate

I love to sing. Harry Potter is my childhood. I'm eager to serve the people of Virginia starting in June. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am twenty years old and "I'm going on an adventure!"--Bilbo Baggins. I'm about to embark on the biggest adventure of my life! In June I'll be reporting as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to serve and love the people in Virginia! My preparation for this commitment has been some of the best for my life. I am so happy; happier than I thought I could be! "Adventure is out there!" people! I just received my Associate's Degree and plan on going to school for my Bachelor's in Elementary Education when I get home. I love to sing ("I have magic hair that glows when I sing!"), read (I might have the whole Harry Potter series memorized), draw, watch movies (Disney will never EVER get old), play board/card games with my family, bake chocolate chip cookies, and spend time with those I love. I have so many different interests (Captain America, among others…), but I'm excited to leave some of them behind to dedicate my life for 18 months to helping my brothers and sisters in Virginia realize how much Heavenly Father loves them.

Why I am a Mormon

My wonderful parents raised me in the gospel. They provided opportunities for me to grow closer to my Heavenly Father and my Savior. Personally, by following the invitation of the prophet to read The Book of Mormon, I HAVE ASKED FOR MYSELF and I know that the teachings in The Book of Mormon are correct, and that they can help me become the best person that I can be if I act upon them. I have not followed blindly, but followed with faith and with promised blessings in sight. I have a testimony of the power of prayer; because Joseph Smith, a young boy with a question, went to the Lord and humbly prayed, the gospel was restored to this earth. I am so grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, and His amazing sacrifice for me. I have a testimony of the REAL power of the Atonement, and I know that if I (or any other child of God) take my problems to the Lord He will help me to overcome. I know that if I repent that Heavenly Father will forgive and bless me. I have seen firsthand what keeping the commandments can do for my life and the blessings that come from doing so. I know that God gives us commandments to follow so that we can progress without being tied down by things that might prevent us from reaching our potential. I know that by obeying God's commands I can be free and happy. I have felt the Holy Ghost witness to me that these things are true. I love this gospel, and I love my opportunity to live it and to share it with others.

How I live my faith

In my life I have served in many different callings in the church, but I'm about to live the most challenging, rewarding, and humbling calling so far! Leaving my family behind for a year-and-a-half will be hard because they mean everything to me, but I know that I will love my brothers and sisters in Virginia and I can't wait to serve them and teach them about this wonderful gospel as a missionary on the Lord's errand!
