Hi I'm Abbey

I was born in Michigan but moved to England when I was seven. I love sports and play the flute. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the United States but moved to England when I was seven. I attended an international school in London and really enjoyed getting to meet people form all over the world. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Utah. However, I am now taking about a year and a half off to serve a mission for the Mormon church. I love to laugh and sing loudly to the radio (even though I don't sing well!). At BYU I am studying to be a school teacher. I also love playing sports; especially soccer, basketball, and softball.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because in living the doctrine taught in this church I feel like my relationship with my Father in Heaven is strengthened. My life is given direction and I feel blessed with eternal perspective when I live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me so much happiness in life. It has also brought me great comfort. I am grateful that the Mormon church focuses so much on strengthening your personal relationship with the Savior. It is so comforting that whenever I am sad, discouraged or frustrated I know that I can pray to my Father in Heaven who I know hears and listens to me patiently. I am also grateful for what the Mormon church teaches about the nature of our Heavenly Father. He is a loving God who wants us to be happy and to return to live with Him in Heaven. I know that I am His daughter and that He created me. I know that He loves me for the person that I am and that I am beautiful in His eyes. In short, I am a Mormon because I feel happy when I live the doctrine taught in this church and because I know that by living this gospel and I am brought nearer to my Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church every Sunday; I partake of the sacrament and attend the instructional lessons afterwards. One of my recent responsibilities in the church was to organize what are called 'Family Home Evenings' for the people in my area at university. The Mormon church encourages its families to meet together on Monday nights to talk about the gospel and spend time together. Because at university most of us are away from our families we join as groups of friends on Monday nights. I was in charge of planning these Monday night activities. Currently I am living my faith by preparing to serve a Mormon mission. This will entail teaching the people in the area I am assigned to about the message of Christ. I will serve for a period of 18 months. I am very excited for this opportunity I have to live my faith by sharing the happiness, comfort, and direction that comes from living a life centered on our Savior Jesus Christ.
