Hi I'm Jill

I'm a wife & mom of 3. I'm a teacher & singer. I grew up in Texas & now live in North Carolina. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I have a degree in Music Education from Texas Tech Univ. I've taught choir, private voice and piano, and general music classes for 18 years. I have 3 children and a funny dog who keep me busy. I have served in PTA and booster club positions. I love reading and going on walks with my sweet husband. I'm now trying to change careers into the business world. It can be a little scary to leave what's been so familiar for so long, but I'm excited to explore other areas of my talents and abilities!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents converted to Mormonism when I was 3, so I was raised in the Church. However, it was important for me to gain my own testimony of it's truthfulness, which was a slow process for me from age 17-24. Following the commandments of God makes me happy, and I learned how miserable I could feel when I didn't follow them. I'm so grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ, for his merciful love and for a Heavenly Father who has sent many angels to bless my life. My membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints blesses me with so much peace and joy and understanding of eternal principles. I have learned through trials and am grateful to understand that opposition in all things makes me happier and tougher! God has a plan for me and I'm trying to listen and follow and be all He needs and wants me to be!

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon has taught me mostly about following Christ's example of service, looking for ways to lift others. I've never been paid for any position, since there is a lay ministry, which surprises many of my music friends who make their living through church jobs in other religions. Through my assignments in the Church, I've learned so much about myself besides being a musician. I've led many a church choir, picked hymns, trained budding musicians, but it's when we're asked to do the unfamiliar that we learn. I was a Nativity Celebration organizer for two years, which is a huge community event with 300 volunteers, 25 musical guests, 650 nativity scenes, 4000 attendees... I never knew that I could organize and manage something so big and important! I'm so grateful for that opportunity to develop new talents. Now I am the Public Affairs Representative for the Church in our area. I look for ways the Church can serve the community and how the community can receive news about Church members and functions in my area.
