Hi I'm Jake

I live in Price, Utah. I love listening to and creating music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a recent high school graduate, and I plan on attending BYU when I get back from my mission. When I was in high school, I was a Bass in the Madrigal choir, a Keyboardist for the Jazz Band, and I played the Tuba for Symphonic band. I love anything and everything to do with music. I've been taking piano lessons since I was five years old, and I've been teaching students of my own for about a year. Teaching lessons has taught me that I love teaching music more than performing it. I hope to teach high school band and/or choir after graduating from college. I also love composing music, and I hope to be able to compose for movies and video games someday. I am the oldest of four kids. I have two brothers and a sister that can be pretty obnoxious, but they're way awesome and I love 'em a ton. I'm also lucky to have a mom and dad who love me and want me to be happy. I love my family very much, and I'm thankful for all that they do for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have learned for myself that I am happier when I live the commandments that God has given us. There have been times in my life when I decided that the Church doesn't know what's best, and have not lived the commandments. Looking back on these times, I realize that I was not happy, and the things that I did were not helpful to others; rather, they were focused on myself, and what I could do for ME. It is this realization coupled with the happiness and love that I feel when doing God's will that has helped me to gain a testimony that this church is true. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love us and want us to be happy, and that the commandments they have given us are the keys to bring truly happy, and helping others to feel the same.

How I live my faith

Since Heavenly Father has blessed me with the gift of being able to understand and perform music, I always try to use that talent to serve others. I play Hymns for Church whenever I can, and conduct the music when others play. Outside of church, I play for nursing homes and schools, and I teach kids how to play the piano and feel the Spirit of our Heavenly Father through music. My dad and I also go Home Teaching almost every month. We visit the families we have been asked to visit, and share a gospel message with them. Before we leave, we ask the family if there's anything we can do to help them. They don't always take up on this offer, but when they do, we make sure to help them in whatever way they need. I think that the most important way to live my faith is to always treat others with love and kindness. We are all children of a loving Heavenly Father, and we all deserve to feel appreciated and loved.
