Hi I'm Josh Barber

I'm from Aycliffe, a small town in North East, England. I'm a missionary in Southern Germany and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

So, I am from the north of England. I am currently serving a mission in Southern Germany. I will return home in 2015. I have 3 brothers, my parents divorced when I was a little younger but both happily remarried. One of my brothers is married, my second brother is currently serving in the Greece, Athens mission and my younger brother has recently been baptized! I enjoy sport, Football (Soccer) is my favirote, I support Newcastle United Football Club. When I attended school I played American Football, (QB) and had the opportunity of representing my country in a couple international games! As a ward we often get together and have a game of football which is great fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up as a member of the church so, as a youth was taken to church meetings each week. Eventually, it got to the point where I knew I had to find out if these things I had learnt in my youth were true. I began to study and ponder the Book Of Mormon more than ever and pray in faith knowing that my prayers would be answered. I received an overwhelming feeling, one I can not describe other than of peace, love and happiness. I knew the feelings I received when studying and praying were the feelings of the spirit testifying the truthfulness of these things. I know that as we each study and pray we are all entitled to these feelings. I reached the age where I had to choose weather or not I was to serve a mission for the church, I again found myself on my knees putting faith in the lord to tell me what I should do. I obviously received the answer and that is the reason i am serving in the Alpine German speaking Mission right now. I have seen the happiness, peace and love which the gospel has brought into my life and the life of my family and friends, it would be selfish of me not to leave my family for a short period of time to let them experience the happiness and love which I have experienced in my life so far. The gospel is true and it is real, as I strive to live it day by day, I can feel my love of the gospel grow and I bask in the happiness my family receive daily from living and loving it.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith by attending and participating in my church meetings. I love to attend church and feel of the peace and happiness which the gospel brings to me and my family. I am currently on a mission in Southern Germany. what we do as missionaries is, teach people and help them come closer to Jesus Christ. Each day, we get up, study and prepare for the day and to teach people the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We leave family, freinds and loved ones for two years to help and serve others. I know that as I study my scriptures and pray in faith that my prayers will be answered. I know that this is direct communication with our Heavenly Father and I am so grateful that we have the opportunity to do this here on Earth. A big aspect of the gospel is serving others, just as Jesus did throughout his earthly ministery. Obviously, it is something each member of the church aims to do!
