Hi I'm Sydney Walker

I am a student at BYU from the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I love beaches and reading. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to learn! In school I am studying sociology and I plan on going to law school someday. Part of me never wants to leave school because there is just so many interesting things to learn about. I enjoy reading, especially sitting by the fire on a cold day, or on the beach in the summer time. I also enjoy spending time with my family. I am the second oldest of 5 children and we always have fun with each other.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this religion is all about hope! What joy the gospel brings to me, knowing that it is okay if I make mistakes, for there is repentance and baptism to be cleansed again. I love this church because it believes in second chances - people aren't perfect and God knows that. If we are willing to work with Him, He will extend his loving hand and help us on the path to become better. I have felt the pure power of the atonement of Jesus Christ in my life, and I know that even in our lowest points in life, our Savior will be there when no one else is, and carry us through our trials. I know that God is there and feels our pains and understands us in a way that no one else can. We don't ever have to be alone, because He walks the path with us. How hopeful it is for me, that my Heavenly Father loves me and has a plan for me! There is life beyond this life, and He is watching out for me and wants me to return to be with Him again after I die. I have hope that my family can be together forever, not simply until "death do you part." This brings me much happiness, for I truly love my family and want to spend the rest of eternity with them. How hopeful it is for me, knowing that God loves us so much, he sends His messengers, or prophets, to guide us as he did in days of old. If we listen to the prophet's words, we will never go astray. Through Joseph Smith, who restored Christ's true gospel back onto the earth today, we will always have a prophet to direct us through the trials and temptations we may face in this life. That being said, I am a Mormon because I believe in hope and this gospel brings that to me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith, first and foremost, by following Christ and His perfect example. In doing so, I keep his commandments and attend church regularly. There, I served in a women's organization where I was the secretary. Through my records of who was attending church, I was able to help others come back to church or see if they had a need to be met. I also have served on activities committees and youth presidencies. These callings have helped me grow closer to the Lord, as well as learn to love others the way the Savior did.
