Hi I'm Craig

I've been to the land of Fire and Ice (Iceland). I teach science. I touch the lives of my students. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the proud father of a cute and energetic little girl and the blessed husband of an amazing wife. I was raised in a large family with many kids and loved that we always had somebody to play with. My parents have always shown their love for us and never played favorites (which is probably hard to do with 13 kids). I hope that I can someday be as great of a husband and father to my family as my father was to our family. I have always loved learning from and teaching others which has led me to my current occupation. I currently teach 9th grade science and love interacting with others on a daily basis. I hope my students know how much I love and care about them. I have spent some time in the beautiful country of Iceland and would love to take my family there to visit some day. Its a beautiful country full of amazing sights and fantastic people. To quote a favorite primary song, "I'm glad that I live in this beautiful world Heavenly Father created for me." I also believe any day can be made better if we will all just smile a little bit more.

Why I am a Mormon

Some people may assume that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I was raised that way. My parents and family did give me a strong foundation to start from, but each and every one of us needs to find out for ourselves what is true. As I live God's commandments I see more and more blessings come into my life. My grandma recently passed away, but with the testimony I have gained from the gospel I know I will see her and my other loved ones again after this life. The gospel gives us so much guidance to the big questions in life like "Did we exist before we were born? What is the purpose of this life? Is there life after death?" I know that my life has a purpose and I can have joy in fulfilling my life to the best of my ability. I look forward to a better day when there is no more sin, violence, and pain in the world. As the Book of Mormon says, "Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God." (Ether 12:4) I know that Christ will come again and when He does we will live in a better world and we need to do our best to prepare for that time and try to make the world a better place today. I believe that will be best achieved as we strive to love one another and serve and understand one another no matter what our differences may be. I truly look forward to the day John talked about when he said: "And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain." (Revelation 21:3-4). God loves us and we are his children.

How I live my faith

I try to start everyday by reading and studying from the sacred scriptures. I'm currently reading from the New Testament. The scriptures are the word of God and can bring a Spirit and Power into our lives that just seem to make the day run smoother and easier. One of the things I have enjoyed the most as I have served in the church is being a Sunday School teacher for the youth. I enjoy the questions, insights, and spirit that they share as we learn from one another. I believe we should all strive to live as the Savior did and do something everyday to make this world a better place. We may not be perfect like Jesus was and is, but we can all have a positive influence on the world around us if we will diligently seek for opportunities to serve others. Just think of how much better and more peaceful our world would be if we would all strive to love and serve our neighbors.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Craig
As I was growing up I always had this feeling that God was real and it has always made sense to me that just like we have an earthly father that loves us we also have a Heavenly Father that loves us. The reality of God as been confirmed to me multiple times as I have gone through high school, college, and now as a teacher myself. I have learned about things as massive and incomprehensible as our universe and as small and detailed as the parts of our immune system. The more I learn about the world around us from science the more I receive confirmation from the Holy Spirit that we we have a loving Heavenly Father that has created this beautiful world for us. This world was not created by chance. God has followed natural laws to create this universe and everything in it. Every time I look into the heavens or think about the amazing living things that live on this earth I know that God exists, He is our Father, and he created this Earth for us. The scriptures also testify to us about who God is and His plan for us. Show more Show less
